    Editor

    Job Description

    • Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax in articles
    • Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
    • Read, evaluate and edit article drafts or other materials submitted for publication, and confer with authors regarding changes in content, style and organization, to suite Nairametrics writing standard.
    • Develop story or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal.
    • Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability, or supervise others who do this work.
    • Work with the team to plan and manage the drafting of op-eds, articles, newsletter, web copy, etc.
    • Manage the editorial process for the team's written products from concept development, drafting, review, copy editing, and sign-off;
    • Work with Analysts to develop consistent tone and style for all articles, newsletters and other contents
    • Work with Analysts and Freelancers to give story guides and suggestion

    Basic Requirement

    • Possess a BSc in relevant fields.
    • At least 3 years' experience as a media Editor
    • Excellent writing skills in English, especially as applied to press communication, financial terms, and other news content
    • Expert level proficiency as a proofreader;
    • Experience working across digital platforms (websites, mobile, blogs, etc.)
    • Ability to maintain focus and detail orientation when processing large amounts of information or copy
    • Ability to collaborate with writers to understand their writing needs and maximize their impact
    • Demonstrated ability to distill complex topics into language that is understandable to broader audiences
    • Experience with pitching ideas to different audiences, with the ability to write compellingly to either professional or lay audiences from diverse backgrounds
    • Demonstrated ability to work on tight deadlines.

    Business Analyst

    Job Description

    • This role requires the ability to write and convert business news, data and research to written articles.
    • Full coverage of banking and finance / Investment beat in terms of breaking news, feature stories, investigative stories etc.
    • Represent Nairametrics at meetings, press briefings and general events
    • Conduct regular Interviews with corporate executives, government officials and prominent stakeholders across your beat and write suitable feature stories and corporate profiles
    • Conduct regular research and comparism of banks and corporates thereby creating ranking or product review stories
    • Build a large network of connections across your beats and scope of work
    • Generate standard or custom reports summarizing business, financial, or economic data for review by executives, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
    • Synthesize current business intelligence or trend data to support recommendations for action
    • Be the eyes and ears of Nairametrics across your designated beat with timely and accurate stories.

    Basic Requirement

    • Possess a Bachelor's Degree
    • Experience working in a fast-paced media firm or related services firm is highly desirable.
    • Minimum of 4 years proven experience in Banking and Finance, Investment and other related portfolios
    • Good writing, interpretation and financial story telling skills
    • Ability to break down complex financial terms to comprehensible bits for readers
    • Prior high-quality experience in similar roles with top firms in the Investment, capital or financial space will be a major advantage.
    • Prior writing experience at a digital or print media is an advantage.
    • Demonstrated ability to work on tight deadlines.

    Financial Market Analyst

    Job Description

    • Cover all Nigerian regulators effectively i.e. CBN, SEC, NDIC etc.
    • Cover markets news timely on a daily basis and be abreast of all news
    • Ensure timely coverage of breaking news across your beats and other beat assigned
    • Conduct interviews and represent the company at functions, press briefings and general events
    • Create original content and enhance existing content while incorporating SEO best practices.
    • Brainstorm, research, and contribute ideas for content that is of interest to the target audience.
    • Build a large network of connections across your beats and scope of work.

    Basic Requirement

    • Minimum of B.Sc in Banking and Finance or any related field of study
    • At least 3 years writing experience in a digital or print media is a must.
    • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the financial industry, markets and regulatories to deliver confident writing at multiple levels of sophistication.
    • Good command of English both in speaking and writing
    • Effective story telling skills
    • Experience in interacting with people at all levels
