Responsibilities

• Create an aesthetically supportive learning environment which fosters inquiry, creativity, thinking and independence that ensures learners meet their learning goals.
• Understand the use of phonics to introduce learners to reading.
• Teach the learners the important rules of word problems, problem solving quantitative reasoning skills, and also the use of mental strategy and its diverse methods.
• Identify learners with special requirements, and create individualized plans.
• Assist struggling learners to improve their learning abilities.
• Plan and implement lessonsto stimulate the learners' development.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and administrators to promote the learning and implementation of best practices.
• Monitor and set targets for the social and academic progress of learners.
• Build trusting relationships with learners, parents, and other staff
• Oversee the learners’ progress by tracking their assignment and exam grades, in order to provide useful feedback.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess B.Ed Degrees in Early Childhood Education or related course with 2 - 6 years relevant work experience.
• Previous experience as an early years teacher in an International school.
• Deep Understanding of Early Years Foundation Stage framework..
• Possess a patient and resilient personality.
• Strong dedication to students and have a passion for education.
• Excellent written, oral communication and exceptional organizational skill.
• Strong commitment for professional development.

Job Summary

• An inclusive primary school in Magodo Lagos is seeking to hire a dedicated Special Education Teacher.
• Your role includes being responsible for instructing pupils with mild to moderate disabilities.

Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility involves:

• Adapting the existing curriculum in core subjects to accommodate the individual learning needs of each pupil.
• Creating personalized lesson plans tailored to pupils’ specific requirements.
• Collaborating with parents and support staff to address any significant factors that may hinder pupils’ progress
• Providing guidance and inspiration to help children achieve important learning milestones.

Others:

• Assessing pupils’ abilities and crafting teaching plans
• Adapting learning materials to pupils’ needs
• Monitoring children’s behavioural patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if needed
• Designing engaging activities to teach skills (e.g. drawing and theater drama)
• Collaborating with the support staff (e.g. school counselors and shadow teachers) to create holistic intervention plans

Requirements and Skills

• Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher or relevant role
• Good knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies
• Experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities
• Ability to create IEPs
• A patient, resourceful, and resilient personality
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Valid state special education certificate
• Knowledge of speech therapy is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Transport children and other passengers to and from school
• Obey all traffic laws
• Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times
• Ensure the safety of all students
• Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends
• Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed
• Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route
• Attend safety meetings as required.

Requirements

• Candidates should possess an OND qualifications with 2 - 5 years relevant work experience.
