    Crusher Operator

    About the job

    • To ensure raw material is crushed for the smooth running of production. Monitor through the mimic board or ECS screen the control parameters of the entire crushing operations.
    • In this role, Control or maintain suitable process parameter according to the established requirements.
    • He/she will also be responsible for the smooth operation and general housekeeping of all production shops. Record hourly the performances of the crusher based on the obtained parameters reading e.g. operating time, resumption time, stoppages as well as their causes, adjustments, activities done during the progress of operation and shutdown on respective forms and logbooks.
    • Maintains regular interval calibration of belt weighed to have quality and efficient crushing operations.
    • Complies with prescribe work instruction in the proper starting and stopping of the crusher and auxiliary units in order to prevent loss and damage to equipment as well as to personnel.

    What you'll be doing

    • Accountable for the safety of self and Colleagues in the section.
    • Responsible for LOTOTO registration during all maintenance
    • First level inspection before start-up beginning from the pry belts to the crusher platform.
    • Follow and review the SOP – Standard Operating Procedure to ensure accuracy.
    • Attends the daily production meeting and receives the daily work instructions.
    • Coordinate the activities on the crusher platforms during operations.
    • Reports any faults found with the plant to the shift leader and submits the checklist to him where such faults are indicated.
    • Prepare daily and monthly report on the material crushed.
    • Contribute to the analysis of failure and problems, recommending corrective actions.
    • Operation of the ECS (Central Control Room) of the Crusher(s).
    • Liaise regularly with the quality team on the raw material sample analysis and follow up with the results.
    • Records any delays on the crusher plant and reasons for such delays by reporting delays to the shift leader.
    • Helps in the department’s housekeeping by keeping the working area clean.
    • Participates in the Company’s safety program by attending monthly safety meetings and quarterly firefighting training.
    • Performs any other reasonable tasks when requested by Shift Leader.
    • Assists the maintenance team during shutdowns/PMR (preventive maintenance routine)
    • Any other task that may be assigned from time to time

    Mining Engineer, Sagamu

    Ensure the Quarry is run in a safe and efficient manner to deliver the right quality and quantity of Raw materials to the Crushers and effectively coordinate the activities of all supporting teams (Drill & Blast, Overburden, Operations, Fuel Station and ME Workshop) as well as the Crushing team to achieve the production volume targets with proper reporting of equipment condition.

     

    What you'll be doing

    • Enforce the implementation of an effective safety action plan including training, communication, audit that is aligned with the HSMS developed by the region as well as weekly safety briefings and inspections of the Quarry in accordance with the Quarry safety Handbook
    • Coordinating and monitoring drilling and blasting designs and planning with the team and to ensure maximum utilization of production drilling equipment as it relates to Production and Geo-technical Wall Control blasting
    • Improving of production rates for excavators and dump trucks as well as drilling and blasting patterns to increase fragmentation
    • Daily supervision of production equipment and ensuring that daily pre-start checks are done and all necessary safety documentations are carried out.
    • Daily inspection of blasted patterns to make sure meeting the required fragmentation and ensuring that the drill and blast procedures are adhered to at all times.
    • Defining the strategy of mining operations on daily basis (Grade control drilling, Drill and blast, Load and haul)
    • Crusher feed blending through upcoming week to meet budget targets.
    • Daily forecast calculations of Grade Control and Blast Holes drilling meters, total waste material to be mined and supervision of the overburden movement activities.
    • Total ore to be mined, average ore mined grade and Crusher feed tonnage and its average grade.
    • Daily supervision on the field to make sure of digging units’ bench setup and productivity, shortest haulage cycles for all trucks, waste dumps’ conditions, haul road conditions, mechanical problems facing production and ancillary equipment to discuss it with heavy mobile equipment maintenance manager.
    • Coordinate with Quarry Supervisor to ensure maximum utilization of digging units and dump trucks.
    • Daily and Weekly QA/QC for blasted patterns to identify problems that may affect the production and find out the best way to avoid it.
    • Consult with mine planner on issues relating to production drilling, blast and mine design and to identify the geological structures and hardness of rock to make modifications in blasting parameters to overcome any expected problems.
    • Assisting in developing drill and blast budgets and forecasts as required and making cost studies for blasting operations with different parameters to meet budgeted cost and operations inquiries.
    • Any other task that may be assigned from time to time

    • HND/BSc. Mining Engineering 
    • Minimum 3 years in similar assignment with an experience in open pit mining environment.

    Quarry Fleet Supervisor, Sagamu

    About the job 

    The Quarry Supervisor’s prime objective is to coordinate and supervise the continuous quarry activities meeting objectives for quantity and quality, within safety and environmental standards. He also has to assure overall plant responsibility in the off-hours.

     

    What you'll be doing 

    • Understand and comply with HSE policies to assume that HSE are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiative at the plant and assist the department as needed to improve HSE performance and results
    • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
    • Follow up all safety procedures, checks for safety hazards and takes corrective action to eliminate safety hazards
    • Conduct a daily Safety meeting with participation from all crew members, and ensure actions have or will be taken on items of concern.
    • A review of all the new Incident Investigations for that time period is a mandatory component of the monthly safety meeting. Report on accidents/incidents assuring follow-up.
    • Ensure compliance with safety practices and procedures, availability of safety equipment, and provide first aid treatment.
    • Review with the crew, the instructions left by the Mining Engineer, ensure execution of the jobs or tasks as defined and the operating arameters/guidelines are correctly followed.
    • Monitor the operation of those areas, detect malfunction or abnormal situation and take or trigger the necessary corrective actions.
    • Evaluate possible cause of breakdown, determine urgency of corrective actions and call in repair crew as appropriate.
    • Oversee quality control activities on shift and assist in the decision making in that area.
    • Assure surveillance of the overall plant in the off-hours and assist security on such matters as plant. Assure proper response in the case of emergency situations.
    • Maintain an accurate and detailed account of his shift activities and operation, both qualitative and quantitative in the production log book.
    • Ensure motivation of employees through proper delegation of jobs, participation, recognition, follow-up of suggestions, and fair and equitable treatment of all employees within his group.
    • Initiate action and/or act as resource to the department head in the areas of employee performance, absenteeism, grievance and disciplinary action.
    • Report on daily or shift activities for his group as per established format.
    • All other quarry related tasks including but not limited to: Conduct specific studies or trials. (In consort with the Projects and Process departments.) Prepare procedures or other operating guidelines. Provide formal training to operators. Supervise implementation of specific jobs or projects. Assist in major equipment shutdowns, the compiling of operating data and the taking of physical inventories.

    Mobile Equipment Planner, Sagamu

    About the Job

    Effective maintenance planning, scheduling & inventory control as well as preparing master schedule and workload balance to ensure that manpower is effectively utilized, plan each significant job and determine safety requirements, job steps (execution job plan), blueprints, materials, special equipment needs, and manpower required to perform necessary work. The Mobile Equipment Planner is responsible to prepare all planned maintenance that have to be carried out by the execution team, service companies or contractors. In that role, the Mobile Equipment Planner will work closely with the Mobile Equipment Inspector and the execution team on the following tasks and responsibilities in order to reinforce the day-to-day job preparation & planning.

     

    What you'll be doing

    • Establish and maintain with the supervisors and the stores department, a system for proper storage of pre-works and parts for pending work.
    • The incumbent will work with the Storeroom supervisor to update and maintain the equipment parts catalogue, and develop parts catalogues for existing equipment that have none as well as develop equipment tool list for jobs that require such.
    • The Mobile Equipment Planner will work with the Storeroom Supervisor to review and update parts min-max.
    • The Mobile Equipment Planner will be responsible to improve and maintain the equipment files and history (paper and electronic).
    • The Mobile Equipment Planner will ensure timely delivery of spare parts that are placed on order by working with the Purchasing officers and making use of the MFA tracker database program.
    • In collaboration with the Purchasing officers & Storeroom Supervisor, the Mobile Equipment Planner will ensure that the inventory and sources of spare parts are consistent with the Lafarge standards, plant equipment reliability and economic constraints. He will also ensure materials and parts conformity upon receipt.
    • In order to accomplish the prime objective of the position the Mobile Equipment Planner must be versed with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The incumbent must have knowledge of the work order tracking system, spare parts catalogue, requisitioning and inventory systems as well as knowledge of the modern software packages available such as Word, Excel, Microsoft Project Scheduler, etc.
    • The Mobile Equipment Planner will be utilized to supervise some jobs and contractors during annual plant.
    • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
    • Attends manufacturer-sponsored product training as requested.

    Depot Operations/ Key Account Logistics Manager

    About the job 

    • The Depot Operations/Key Account Logistics Manager is responsible for working in conjunction with the logistics function to devise strategy and create solutions that will increase customer service levels and provide cost saving opportunities for the organization through effective Key Account logistics fleet deployment that would meet Group Safety Standard. 
    • He/she is to focus on developing innovative solutions to some of the standard Key Account logistics fleet Operations management. -  transport capacity optimization, transport scheduling etc.
    • He/she is also to ensure effective planning, coordination of all depot operations, and initiate/ implement the depot strategy for effective resources deployment with the aim of achieving effective stock management/depot profitability.

    What you'll be doing 

    • Facilitate the development of a robust health and safety procedure in partnership with the Head of Logistics & Health and safety Manager
    • Responsible for the provision of effective transport services to service Key Account customers and support i.e. Flatbeds, Bulk Tanker etc. for our Ashaka Plant
    • Responsible for all Key Account transport contracts performance to ensure full compliance with provisions by all parties
    • Ensure all Key Account fleet in the Operations transport comply strictly with the Group’s Health and Safety Provisions as contained in the Road Safety Advisories
    • Works with the Logistics Controller in monitoring in analyzing the performance of the contracted Key Account trucks with a view to achieve the projected savings of the full year transport cost
    • Develop relationship management strategies to manage existing drivers and transporters unions, key transporters, government agencies, traditional rulers and pressure groups most especially in communities where we have business operations and financial institutions supporting our Key Account logistics service providers.
    • Responsible for the development of relationships with key internal stake holders at Plant levels i.e Dispatch Managers, Plant Manager, Production Manager, Health and Safety manager’s, etc for effective management of Depot and Key Account Operations.
    • Coordinate all depot Operations to ensure good are received and dispatched according to company policy and procedures.
    • Initiate and implement depot strategy to guarantee effective human and resource management across the depots with the aim of ensuring the profitability of each depot
    • Liaise with Head of logistics on Network Design and evaluate siting of depots at strategic locations to serve as hubs/transit storage based on market share and product shelf presence
    • Work in conjunction with the Head of logistics initiate cement re distribution from the depots/hubs to ensure customers satisfaction and take opportunities of servicing emerging markets
    • Liaise with Head, customers service and sales to initiate replenish orders and create stock visibility across the depots
    • Coordinate all depot activities to ensure proper stock management and minimize stock out and damages while also ensure customers service at all times

    Key Account Operations

    • Carrier Performance
      • Ensures THE DEDICATED KEY ACCOUNT LOGISTICS PROVIDERS provide in a timely manner an adequate number of Service Resources to achieve the minimum trips/truck and cost savings in accordance with the provisions of the agreement, the Service Specification and the Company’s requirement
      • Responsible for monitoring the deliveries of the Products on the date and within the delivery window or within the Journey management plan for the route
      • Work with the Representative of the Key Account transporter to convey a Joint Management Meeting on a date they agree in the calendar month following the end of each calendar month at which time Services will be reviewed and key matters shall be discussed
    • Tracking of Service Resources - 100%
      • Ensures THE KEY ACCOUNT SERVICE PROVIDERS’ Services resources are equipped with tracking devices to enable the Company visibility and tracking of its Products under this Agreement. And shall conduct quarterly assessment of these KPI and make recommendations to Lafarge on the KPI which.
      • Visibility of Service Resources – Minimum level of 95%: 
      • Ensure all Service Resources are visible by the Company’s GPS system during the performance of the Services. The error margin being +/- 5% and 100% being the optimum performance of this KPI, which THE TRANSPORTER shall seek to achieve. Make recommendations to Lafarge Management for any violation of this KPI
    • Leads investigation and resolution of issues surrounding delays, customer and transporter complaints across the Operations.
    • Ensure coordination of all transport planning, routing and Implement load scheduling with a view to achieve a good truck cycle time for the form the other transporters
    • Ensure transport department operational expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
    • Works with the Head of logistics & Health and Safety Manager in the implementation of 5 pillars of logistics - Contractor management; vehicle management; driver management; Journey management and Load Management with a view to develop our transporters to 5 star and promote safety management system through transporters’ safety audits
    • Responsible for Transport plan and capacity check on a weekly horizon as an output from Sales and Operations Planning
    • Implement Business rules for daily transport optimization
    • Leads Management of Carrier Operational Performance

    Depot Operations

    • Implementation of the company’s health and safety policy through effective risk assessment and good housekeeping across the depot

    • To understand customer needs & behavior and get feed on quality of service based on the Company’s Policy and Strategy.
    • Liaise with Head customer services and on time delivery manager to coordinate and monitor truck turnaround and utilization by putting in place depot check-in/out procedure.
    • Create a robust logistics/customers interface across the depot focused on delivering exceptional customers services with defined key performance indicators   

    Management

    • Measure the general performance on the trucking strategy and transport operations set KPI’s against goals, assess the needed optimization, propose/challenge related action plans.
    • Ensure proper communication of actions, related decisions to all people concerned
    • Responsibilities include:

    What we are looking for 

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Business Discipline including some procurement/Admin functional experience

    • Understanding of a cement inputs and production process will be an added advantage
    • Strong understanding of Logistics and sales functions as well as logistic process& scheduling procedures
