    Cleaner

    Purpose

    • Responsible for the general cleaning and maintenance of the office, guesthouse and compound.
    • Responsible for ensuring that a clean working and living environment is availed to staff, official visitors and for ensuring that proper hygiene is maintained.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Office / Guesthouse Cleaning: 

    • Maintain the guesthouse rooms and offices including toilets, bathrooms clean at all times.
    • Do laundry and iron of bedsheets and pillow sheets and clothes at the guest house.
    • Do the beds preparation and prepare rooms when visitors come to the guesthouse.
    • Dusting / cleaning of office equipment like copiers, furniture and the windows and floor.
    • Getting rid of the cobwebs in and around the office and in the guesthouse.
    • Getting rid of unwanted grass growing within the compound.

    Maintenance of supplies:

    • Ensure that supplies such as tissues are placed out in offices when supplies are low.
    • Make requests for hygiene products like detergents, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies to the logistics department.
    • Maintain proper records of all the office and guesthouse supplies in order and correct manner.
    • Make sure that the toilet /latrines are supplied with toilet paper rolls, water and soap.
    • Proper collection of rubbish in one central location for disposal and providing containers for rubbish in offices
    • Cleaning guesthouse store on a weekly basis or as when needed.

    Other:

    • Monitor and report any irregularities in the office and guesthouse
    • Any other duties as assigned by the HR & Administration Manager.

    Required Qualifications
    Education: 

    • Secondary School Certificate
    • Minimum OND or equivalent.

    Essential:

    • Previous Experience in a hotel, restaurant in a similar capacity
    • Experience working with an INGO/NGO.

     Desirable:

    • Languages: (indicate fluency level)
    • Able to communicate in spoken English.
    • Fluency in local spoken languages.

    Casual Worker - Cook / Cleaner

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Cleaning:

    • Clean ceilings, windows, windowsills, furniture and equipment, main entrances and terraces on a daily basis;
    • Wash the floors on a daily basis,
    • Wash bathrooms, toilets and kitchens on a daily basis;
    • Empty the bins on a daily basis and ensure that the inside of the bins is cleanly cleaned;
    • Properly store cleaning equipment.

    Laundry:

    • Change when requested or at least once a week the sheets and pillowcase of each occupied room; 
    • Change when requested or at least once a week the towels in the bathrooms;
    • Extend the blankets of each room outside at least once a week; 
    • Organizes the personal laundry of employees, towels and sheets of the houses;
    • Ensure the proper ironing of personal linen and household linen.

    Kitchen and Food:

    • When requested by the expatriate employee, purchase fruits, vegetables and other foodstuffs;
    • When requested by the expatriate employee, participate in the preparation of meals; 
    •  Maintain own hygiene in meal preparation;
    •  Keep kitchens clean and store utensils properly.

    Logistics and Administration:

    • Verify and ensure that hygienic equipment and cleaning products are available in homes, and submit to the Administrator a statement of needs when necessary;
    • Ensure that window locks, French doors, doors work properly;
    • Ensures that all doors and windows are closed all the time;
    • Report to the Administrator any necessary maintenance and repairs of the facilities of the houses;
    • Maintain proper records of all the office and guesthouse supplies in order and correct manner.
    • Any other duties as assigned by the line Manager.

    Experience and technical competencies

    • SSCE, High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous experience in a Humanitarian INGO, hotel or restaurant in a similar capacity
    • Able to work independently.
    • Able to read and write.
    • Able to fill the stock book and count inventory.

    Ideally, you should also have:

    • Flexibility with working hours.
    • In-depth knowledge of hygiene in office and guest house cleaning.

    Casual Worker - Driver

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Be responsible for; the safe and duly authorised use of the vehicle assigned to them.
    • Knowing in detail, and abiding by, all local laws pertaining to driving and road use, and all DRC driving rules and regulations (no passenger or superior may authorise or order violations of the traffic law).
    • Adhering to all procedures and guidelines laid out in the in operation manual, including but not limited to the cleanliness, routine inspection, fault-reporting, maintenance needs of the vehicle assigned to them, and any incidents/accidents that befall that vehicle.
    • Maintain accurate, legible, up-to-date and complete trip records in the log book of any vehicle they drive Immediately after completing the journey.
    • Journey preparation of the vehicle assigned to them, including: general cleanliness and appearance; checks on spare tyre(s) and other equipment such as first aid kit, recovery kit, etc; communications checks; fuel/oil/water levels and tyre pressure checks; and safe and secure loading.
    • Be responsible to inform the fleet/logistics officer of re-registrations and insurance procedures for all the vehicle fleet.
    • Ensure the safety of passengers and vehicles at all times when on duty.
    • Be responsible to inform the fleet/logistics Assistant of any signs for vehicle repairs.
    • Ensure the respect of the Code of Conduct.

    Experience and technical competencies

    • SSCE, High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous Experience in a Humanitarian NGO as a driver of owned or hired fleet
    • Able to independently handle the vehicle with minimal breakdown.
    • Able to read and write
    • Able to fill the vehicle log book and checklist.

    Ideally, you should also have:

    • Flexibility with working hours.
    • A certificate in Defensive driving from an established driving school/firm is an added advantage.
    • Hold a certificate (e.g trade certificate) in automobile mechanics is an added advantage.

    PM / Community-Based Protection Officer (CBP) Officer

    Purpose / Objective of the Position
    Overall purpose of the role:

    • The Community-Based Protection Officer (CBP Officer) supports the implementation of community-based protection activities, ensuring alignment with the DRC Nigeria Community-Based Protection strategy.
    • The officer plays a key role in community based protection incorporating some feedbacks in some parts of protection monitoring, collecting relevant Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), while strengthening community based protection structures and supporting them into their action plans and alerting on any issues experienced by CBPS by being very engaged with them and partners working on this.
    • The CBP Officer also engages with community-based protection structures (CBPS) and displaced communities, facilitating training, coaching, and awareness-raising sessions to enhance local protection mechanisms.
    • Additionally, the CBP Officer supports early warning systems, some of the different analysis required, and durable solutions advocacy in collaboration with Protection Team Leaders and the broader protection team and is also key in raising awareness to CBPS and giving them key trainings on protection principles, PFA, gender equality and any other modules that can support community engagement and CBPS sustainability. 

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Data Collection & Protection Monitoring:

    • Conduct FGDs, KIIs, household surveys, and protection incident documentation following established protection standards.
    • Support protection trend analysis on community based protection structure feedbacks and work closely with PM teams on weekly updates, alerts, and key protection reports to the Protection Team Leader/PIM officers/PIM specialist.
    • Provide LGA feedback and impact report on the engagement of CBPS
    • Analyze CBP meeting data, contributing to monthly CBP analysis reports (2-3 pages).
    • Assist in conflict analysis and early warning system development, identifying risks in displacement communities and CBPS initiatives.

    Community Engagement & Capacity Building:

    • Facilitate awareness-raising sessions on protection risks, human rights, and safety protocols among others
    • Organize training sessions for local authorities and community protection actors at LGA level to strengthen their ability to respond to protection issues.
    • Work closely with CBPS to develop community action plans and ensure an effective feedback mechanism for displaced communities and support in framing CBPS initiatives at LGA level with validation of the CBP/PM TL and CBP/PM Specialist.
    • Ensure that displaced communities and CBPS structures receive timely updates on protection risks through regular meetings and information-sharing mechanisms and ensure that their self-protection mechanisms are reported and adapted and supported.
    • Help harmonize peacebuilding, community protection initiatives, and durable solutions strategies to improve sustainability and accountability by facilitating some key community based protection/peacebuilding meetings in different hubs identified by CBPS to ensure impact and sustainability.

    Coordination & Supervision:

    • Ensure proper implementation of CBP activities by supervising local teams and partners staff in field locations and supporting CBPS to develop their own capacities
    • Represent DRC in LGA-level protection meetings and coordination spaces.
    • Provide guidance, supervision, and coaching to CBP Assistants/volunteers/partners staff involved at LGA level and ensure proper documentation of CBP and all related protection activities in the LGA.
    • Support protection mainstreaming by strengthening AAP (Accountability to Affected Populations) initiatives, including feedback and complaint mechanisms such as help desks and mobile desks.
    • Provide a CBPS mapping in the LGA and a partners referrals pathways at LGA level to facilitate referrals and other needs.

    Professional Competencies & Qualifications
    Education & Technical Expertise:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (in process or completed) in Social Sciences, Psychology, Human Rights, Peacebuilding, or related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years experience in community-based protection and protection humanitarian response.
    • Experience working with displaced communities, refugees, and host communities.
    • Familiarity with community engagement tools, CBP methodologies, and durable solutions approaches.

    Education and professional experience:

    • BSC, BA or Master`s Degree in one of the following: International Development, Social Sciences, Social Work, International Relations, Human Rights. 

    Key Skills:

    • Strong facilitation and training skills.
    • Good report writing and data analysis abilities especially on MEAL impact report but also on protection reports.
    • Knowledge of community-based protection mechanisms and conflict-sensitive programming.
    • Ability to conduct protection trend analysis using monitoring dashboards/community feedbacks and different types of tools.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data collection tools, and protection reporting frameworks.

    Behavioral Competencies:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently while ensuring collaboration across teams.
    • High level of confidentiality, respect, and non-discriminatory attitude.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage dynamic protection concerns.
