    Centre Coordinator

    Objectives

    • The Centre Coordinator at MSI is responsible for effectively and efficiently delivering clinical services in alignment with the organization's strategy.
    • They contribute to MSI's future program direction, drive sustainability, and increase access to family planning and reproductive health services.
    • The coordinator provides leadership to the medical team, ensuring the achievement of MSI's mission and targets.
    • They coordinate clinic units, establish effective communication systems, and develop the team's business and management capacity.
    • Additionally, they oversee clinical services, maintain quality care, manage resources, and collaborate with government and non-governmental agencies.
    • The role requires a Degree in Nursing / Midwifery / Public Health, 6 years of relevant experience, and strong technical and interpersonal skills.

    Overall Responsibilities
    Strategy and Planning:

    • Contributing towards MSIN’s strategy and future programme direction, with particular focus on driving MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices towards programme sustainability and increasing access to family planning and SRH services in Nigeria through proper clinical services
    • Actively participate in MSIN quarterly performance reviews
    • Contributing to annual business plans and facilitating the business planning process (service target setting and activity planning in MSIN-Clinics)
    • Assisting the development of project ideas and providing input into proposals to attract donor funds
    • Prepares clinical services annual targets and when approved, ensures their implementation.

    Team Leadership:

    • Provide overall leadership and direction to the medical team in ensuring the achievement of MSI Nigeria’s mission and strategic objectives as well as targets of the clinic.
    • Coordinate the different clinic units (OPD, OR, Lab.) and is responsible for the organization, deployment, supervision and performance appraisal of clinic staff in accordance with MSIN personnel policies.
    • Set up effective communication system within the clinic and other units of MSIN program, technical and operational teams.
    • Establish the priorities and focus of the medical team under his clinic and ensure proper coordination.
    • Advise and provide expertise to all medical team.
    • Monitor and evaluate clinical services provided by the medical team and control the quality.
    • Developing strong business and management capacity amongst the medical team.
    • Motivate, coach, train and continuously set and reviewing performance targets for the medical team.
    • Ensuring all human resource issues for the medical team are handled according to MSIN procedures.
    • Assess medical staff training needs and arrange training in consultation with the Team Development Manager, Area managers.
    • Conducting annual performance appraisals for the medical team.

    Clinical Services:

    • Ensures the maintenance of efficient delivery of client care and the confidentiality of all cases, in accordance with accepted standard medical practices and professional code of conduct.
    • Performs nursing duties, as required, including providing antenatal care, delivery service, family planning / MCH and counselling services, assisting the theatre nurse and disseminating health education/ information.
    • Decides on clients eligible for subsidized I free services, as per the organization’s standing regulations.
    • Ensures that clients’ cards and other records are up-to-date, orderly, properly filed and readily retrievable for reference and inspection.
    • Prepares and submits work programmes and periodic reports of the clinic.
    • Liaises, as appropriate with government and non-governmental agencies to promote MSIN’s interest.
    • Collaborates in the evaluation of clinical programmes and research undertaking and the subsequent application of research findings.

    Resource Management:

    • Is responsible for the acquisition of drugs, contraceptives, and other supplies, ensures their proper receipt, storage, safe keep, issuance and regular replenishment by pro-establishing re-order level.
    • Approves supplies’ requests and issuance and authorizes financial payments as per the organization’s financial policy
    • Ensures that all fees collected from clients are deposited regularly.
    • Assists in the reviews of clinic service charges.
    • Performs other administrative duties essential for the day-to-day running of the clinic.
    • Identifies, proposes and when approved implements improved clinic management system designed for the enhancement of client load, the provision of quality of care and the sustainability of the programme.
    • Prepares and submits work plan and budget of the clinic
    • Produce periodic performance report including service costs and expenses of the clinic.
    • Avails herself/himself to regular stock taking and audit as and when required.
    • Undertakes any other relevant duties that may be assigned to her/him by the Regional Manager/ Country director.

    To perform this role, it is essential that you have the following skills:

    • Leadership: The ability to provide overall leadership and direction to the medical team, motivating and guiding them towards the achievement of MSI Nigeria's mission and strategic objectives.
    • Strategic Thinking: The capacity to contribute towards MSIN's strategy and future program direction, with a focus on driving sustainability and increasing access to family planning and reproductive health services.
    • Team Management: Skills in coordinating and managing the clinic team, including organization, deployment, supervision, and performance appraisal of staff. The ability to establish effective communication systems and prioritize the team's activities.
    • Clinical Expertise: Strong technical dexterity in medical services, particularly in reproductive health care. Knowledge and understanding of major policies and issues related to government health policies and regional health care.
    • Results Orientation: A results-driven mindset with a track record in achieving financial and non-financial targets. A commitment to delivering high-quality clinical services and ensuring the effective delivery of client care.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. The ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, collaborate with government and non-governmental agencies, and disseminate health education/information.
    • Resource Management: Proficiency in managing clinic resources, including the acquisition, storage, and issuance of drugs, contraceptives, and other supplies. Knowledge of financial policies and the ability to monitor and control service costs and expenses.
    • Commitment to Mission: A strong personal commitment to the goals and mission of MSIN, along with a dedication to putting it into practice. An enthusiasm for reproductive health care and a commitment to improving access and quality of services. These skills are crucial for successfully fulfilling the responsibilities of the Centre Coordinator role and contributing to the overall mission of enabling individuals to have children by choice, not chance.

    Key Experience & Qualifications

    • MBBS with a minimum 2 years post-NYSC experience as a clinical officer in an established healthcare facility (private or public).
    • Experience working in sexual and reproductive and maternal health will be an added advantage.
    • Current MDCN License.
    • BLS Certification is an added advantage.

    Sonograher

    Location: Gwarimpa, Abuja (FCT) 

    Objectives

    • This role reports to the Centre Coordinator, the Sonographer job exists to perform quality ultrasound examinations to clients and make quality reports to assist the physician with the diagnosis and treatment.
    • The Sonographer’s role and responsibilities include providing diagnostic medical sonography services and its various clinical specialties.
    • The Sonographer’ activities are performed consistent with their education and training, and in accordance with MSI policies, procedures, and applicable professional standards.

    Overall Responsibilities:
    Your responsibilities as Sonographer shall include;

    • Review client medical history and supporting clinical information and communicate with the client in a manner appropriate to the client’s ability to understand the procedure
    • Conduct client clinical assessment and perform the diagnostic medical sonography examination ordered by the supervising physician in accordance with professional and facility protocols
    • Review examination images, synthesize examination results, and prepare the preliminary findings Apply independent judgment during the sonography examination to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images
    • Assume responsibility for the safety of the client during the sonographic examination
    • Maintain client privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws and facility policies, and procedures
    • Use proper client positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure client comfort and safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition and musculoskeletal injury to the sonographer
    • Generate demand for ultrasound services by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive client volumes
    • Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infections disease, sterilization, and client safety protocols, policies, and procedures
    • As necessary, acquire additional ultrasound imaging to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician
    • Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examination and escalate as appropriate
    • Assume responsibility for the preventive maintenance for ultrasound equipment to ensure it operates at optimal level at all times
    • Operate the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
    • Support marketing events to optimize imaging business with the community and also building up a reliable referral network of specialise scans.

    Key Experience / Qualifications

    • Diploma in Ultrasound, Medical Imaging Sciences or Radiography from a recognized institution.
    • At least two years working experience as a sonographer in a reputable hospital/medial facility.
    • Registration with the relevant regulatory or professional body if applicable with a current practicing license.
    • Computer literate.
    • Knowledge of relevant legislations.
