The Role: 

• Flutterwave is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Associate, Strategic Risk Project Manager.
• The Associate will play a critical role in supporting risk management initiatives across various projects within the organization.
• The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Internal Consulting, project management methodologies, risk management practices, and experience working in the fintech or financial services industry.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to develop and maintain comprehensive plans for key initiatives.
• Monitor project progress and proactively identify emerging risks and compliance issues that may impact project timelines or objectives.
• Assist team leaders in communicating risk management principles and guidelines to various stakeholders, promoting a culture of risk awareness.
• Assist team leadership in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies and action plans to minimize the impact of identified risks.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Prepare and present risk reports and dashboards to communicate key findings, trends, and recommendations to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Continuously evaluate and enhance risk management processes, tools, and frameworks to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their risk management needs and challenges, and develop tailored strategies to mitigate risks and enhance resilience.
• Put structure in place to streamline processes and enhance organizational efficiency.
• Serve as a strong communicator, effectively conveying complex concepts and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Design and implement innovative risk management frameworks, leveraging advanced analytics and financial technology solutions to drive actionable insights.
• Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership to clients on emerging risk trends, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline business processes, improve operational efficiency, and optimize resource allocation.
• Lead client workshops, presentations, and training sessions to educate stakeholders on risk management principles and methodologies.
• Stay abreast of industry developments, market trends, and regulatory changes impacting the financial services sector, and incorporate relevant insights into client engagements.
• Consulting background strongly preferred, with demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality services and driving business impact.

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management or a related field; Master's degree or Professional Certifications are a plus.
• Proven 4+years of experience in project management, consulting, risk management, or related roles within the fintech or financial services industry.
• Proven experience in risk management, business operations, or consulting within the financial services industry, with a focus on financial technology solutions.
• Strong understanding of risk management principles, methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in utilizing financial technology tools and platforms to analyze complex data sets, develop predictive models, and generate actionable insights.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into practical solutions.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Professional certifications and credentials are highly desirable.

The Role: 

• We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager with 8-10 years of hands-on experience in developing distributed systems using NodeJS, Java Spring Boot, MySQL, Kafka, and 3 years+ of leading a team of full stack developers.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in JavaScript, Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, Kafka, and a proven track record of leading teams in delivering high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead the development of distributed systems using NodeJS, Java Spring Boot, MySQL, and Kafka, ensuring best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles are followed.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of full stack developers, guiding them in designing, coding, and testing software components.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, design technical solutions, and provide technical recommendations.
• Hands-on coding and development, conducting code reviews, and resolving technical challenges to ensure timely delivery of software projects.
• Drive innovation by researching and evaluating new technologies, tools, and frameworks, and incorporating them into the development process to improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges, proactively addressing potential issues and providing technical solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, DevOps, and other development teams, to ensure seamless integration of software components and end-to-end delivery of solutions.
• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in distributed systems, Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, Kafka, and other relevant technologies, and share knowledge with the team.

Required Competency and Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong expertise in payments, charges, refunds, chargebacks, settlements, and checkout  
• 8-10 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on distributed systems using Java Spring Boot, MySQL, and Kafka.
• 4+ years of experience managing a team of engineers across backend, frontend and QA
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring teams of full stack developers.
• Strong technical skills in NodeJS, Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, Kafka, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and other relevant technologies.
• Experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, Angular, or React is a plus.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, coding standards, and design patterns.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, message brokers, and distributed data processing using Kafka is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and provide effective solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
