    Cloud & Systems Operations Lead

    About the Role

    • We’re looking for a Cloud and Systems Operations Lead to play a pivotal role in our global technology operations team.
    • You’ll own the infrastructure platforms and services that keep our organization secure, resilient, and scalable across multiple countries.
    • This is a hands-on role where you’ll set technical direction for cloud operations, systems management, and UEM, while ensuring flawless day-to-day service delivery.
    • A core mission is to replace fragmented, site-by-site infrastructure security solutions (like isolated firewalls or local consoles) with unified, centrally managed platforms that deliver consistency, efficiency, and governance.
    • But this isn’t just about keeping the lights on, it’s about building for scale and speed.
    • You’ll lay the rails so Level 2 support and application teams can run the trains without friction.
    • You’ll modernize infrastructure, embed observability and automation, and create resilient foundations that empower product and software teams to move faster, safer, and with confidence.
    • We also have an ambition to align more closely with the CIS-18 governance framework, continuously strengthening our infrastructure standards and the tools that enable our teams to work effectively.
    • At the heart of this role is one simple driver: making things run better today than they did yesterday.

    What You Will Do

    • Lead global cloud and systems operations, setting direction and defining best practices.
    • Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure in AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, ELB, Route 53, CloudWatch, EBS) and contribute to broader multi-cloud strategy discussions with software teams and our solutions architect.
    • Administer and optimize Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows Server (2012–2022) environments, including patching, security hardening, and lifecycle upgrades.
    • Ensure on-premise infrastructure, including networks, firewalls, VPNs, switches, and connectivity, is resilient, standardised, and centrally governed.
    • Improve our identity and access posture and policies at the infrastructure layer in alignment with CIS-18 security governance ambitions.
    • Drive automation through Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, AWS CLI).
    • Advance observability and monitoring (CloudWatch, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) to surface issues before they impact operations.
    • Develop and execute backup and disaster recovery strategies aligned with business continuity expectations.
    • Monitor and enforce system and network security standards for our firewalls, access controls and vulnerability management.
    • Collaborate with developers to support CI/CD pipelines and production stability.
    • Partner with L2 and Enterprise Applications support to align infrastructure with application administration.
    • Maintain documentation to support operational excellence, standard operating procedures, standards and our knowledgebase.
    • Relentlessly optimise infrastructure costs without compromising reliability or performance.

    What You Should Have

    • 7+ years leading enterprise-scale cloud and infrastructure operations (compute, storage, networking, security).
    • Deep experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP); strong AWS knowledge preferred (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, ELB, Route 53, CloudWatch, EBS).
    • Proven expertise with Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows Server (2012–2022) administration.
    • Expertise in infrastructure identity and access management (Active Directory, Group Policy, AWS IAM).
    • Hands-on experience with Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solutions for laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
    • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible), scripting (Bash, PowerShell, AWS CLI).
    • Experience with observability/monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
    • Proven disaster recovery and operational resilience experience.
    • Solid understanding of security operations (firewalls, segmentation, access controls, vulnerability remediation).
    • Strong collaboration skills with developers, DevOps and enterprise applications teams.
    • Track record in infrastructure cost management and optimization.
    • A proactive, confident approach, comfortable setting direction, defining best practices, and representing infrastructure operations to senior stakeholders.
    • A proactive mindset that thrives in ambiguity, prioritises ruthlessly and executes with discipline.
