About Healthcare Leadership Academy
The HLA is guided by the governing philosophy that bold, innovative approaches are required to tackle fundamental health system issues. As an institution we are committed to empowering current and future generations of healthcare professionals with the requisite skills, tools and capabilities to address context specific health system challenges. Ultimately, our aim is to develop a cohort of healthcare leaders in both the public and private domain who would positively transform their respective organisations and communities to improve health outcomes and wellbeing.
Within communities and across the continent, there is great variability in the quality of health service delivery. In Nigeria for instance, the country’s federal structure and consequent tiered health system presents unique challenges that have resulted in inequitable resources distribution and poor quality health service delivery. The basic frameworks of governance and accountability are lacking and the culture of evidence based decision making is largely absent.
