    Waiter / Waitress

    Job Overview

    • The Waiter / Waitress is responsible for ensuring guests have an excellent dining experience by providing stellar customer service.
    • They greet guests, take meal orders and ensure smooth communication between the dining area and kitchen.

    Duties & Responsibities

    • Greet and escort customers to their tables
    • Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies)
    • Prepare tables by setting up linens, silverware and glasses
    • Inform customers about the day’s specials
    • Offer menu recommendations upon request
    • Up-sell additional products when appropriate
    • Take accurate food and drinks orders, using a POS ordering software, order slips or by memorization
    • Check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
    • Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff
    • Serve food and drink orders
    • Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems
    • Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining and bar area
    • Deliver checks and collect bill payments
    • Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning
    • Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties)
    • Follow all relevant health department regulations
    • Provide excellent customer service to guests.

    Requirements
    Level Required:

    • High School Diploma / SSCE / OND
    • 3+ years of professional experience in hotel /hospitality industry and preferably 30 years and above.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Proven work experience as a Waiter or Waitress
    • Hands-on experience with cash register and ordering information system (e.g. Revel POS or Toast POS)
    • Basic math skills with excellent spoken and written English
    • Attentiveness and patience for customers
    • Excellent presentation skills (clean shaven, fresh body odor, neat etc.)
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
    • Active listening and effective communication skills
    • Team spirit
    • Flexibility to work in shifts
    • High school diploma; food safety training is an added advantage.
    • Product knowledge of all food and beverage menus – ability to make suggestions to guests
    • Maintains cleanliness of facility
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand most of the day; The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

    Working hours:

    • On shift basis, with options for off days. However, this will be communicated to the successful candidate before resumption.
