    Volunteer (Voluntary Workforce: Program Support)

    Location: Abuja (with travels to project locations)
    Type of Role: Communications and fundraising
    Start Date: 15th April, 2020
    Duration: 13 months (March, 2020 to March, 2021)

    Job Purpose

    • The role will involve providing support to the programme team by roving across the practice areas of education, livelihoods and health. Also, support the safe peaceful and resilient communities’ initiative. Support the integration of VSO’s core approaches of social accountability, resilience, social inclusion and gender into the practice areas
    • Also, facilitate the volunteering for development approach across the practice areas.
    • The role will involve field travel, organizing meetings, engaging with stakeholders at community, State and national level. Support with program planning, report writing and documentation. Support program delivery, evaluation and documentation of learnings.

    Responsibilities
    Program implementation:

    • Support in program design, implementation and management
    • Provide technical support to the practice areas as required in consultation with the program managers
    • Advise and support the volunteers across the core approaches to effectively support the practice areas as required
    • Support the Program Managers to identify and reach out to different stakeholders that are involved across the practice areas in order to provide inclusive programming
    • Work with program managers and regional knowledge for impact team to develop a monitoring and evaluation plan to monitor the progress across the practice areas
    • Support documentation, report writing as required
    • Planning, Facilitating and Organising Meetings/workshops
    • Facilitate meetings/workshops
    • Support the practice areas leads to plan, organize and conduct internal and external consultative and validation meetings for engaging and strengthening program implementation
    • Support the Country program team to plan workshops, identify participants and develop relevant contents for promoting VSOs work across the core approaches.
    • Facilitation during meetings/events/workshops

    Research / Data Collection:

    • Provide support in the gathering of information, analysis and dissemination from primary actors in rural and urban areas on projects implementation.
    • Provide support in collecting and reviewing secondary information on projects successes, lessons and other relevant reports

    Reporting:

    • Prepare progress reports on youth program activities and update Program Managers.
    • Responsible to: Program Manager Education

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Support to facilitate program design, planning and implementation
    • Support to organise meetings and workshops for the program team
    • Support in note taking and report writing.
    • Support technical input in proposal development and stakeholders engagement
    • Support to facilitate the dissemination of key successes for program visibility

    Skills and Knowledge
    Successful candidates will be a Nigerian and would have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

    Essential:

    • Young persons with a Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies, or other related courses
    • Dynamic Diploma holders with ambition, program management skills, and exposure are eligible
    • Leadership experience in the community or in a business setting
    • Meeting facilitation skills
    • Familiar with project management and reporting
    • A good level of spoken and written English
    • Ability to use MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    Desirable:

    • Experience in program management
    • Previous or current involvement in volunteering work in the community
    • Experience in facilitating meetings and group discussions.
    • Experience in program design and capacity building.
    • Knowledge of current issues and best practices in Child Protection, Disability and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
