Valve Maintenance, Calibration and Servicing Instructor at Dexterous Applied Training Institute (DATI)

Role Description

• This is a two (2) Months contract, on-site role based in Port Harcourt for a Valve Maintenance, Calibration, and Servicing Instructor. The instructor will deliver classroom training on industrial valves, covering Valves and its applications, components, Manual vs Actuated valves, Preventing and Corrective Maintenance, Valve Testing, Valve Calibration and Documentation, Control Valves and Automation, Troubleshooting, Practical Assignments on Test Benches and Field Equipment, safety best practices.
• The role involves demonstrating safe use of tools and equipment, supervising practical sessions in workshops or labs, and ensuring participants can apply skills in real-world industrial environments.
• The instructor will also assess learner performance, provide constructive feedback, maintain accurate training records, and collaborate with the training team to continuously improve course content and delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Equipment Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for industrial valves and related systems.
• Proficiency in Preventive Maintenance practices, including planning, scheduling, and documenting maintenance activities.
• Hands-on experience with Maintenance and Troubleshooting of valve assemblies, actuators, control valves, and associated instrumentation.
• Proven ability to calibrate and service a variety of valve types in oil and gas, process, or manufacturing environments.
• Previous experience as a technical instructor, trainer, or mentor, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse learners.
• Solid understanding of industry safety standards and best practices (e.g., process safety, lockout/tagout, pressure systems safety).
• Relevant technical qualification, diploma, or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field; industry certifications are an advantage.
• Effective communication, presentation, and classroom management skills, with a commitment to inclusive and respectful training practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively with training coordinators and other instructors to align content with client and industry needs.
