    Unix Linux System Administrator

    Role Summary

    • We are looking for a skilled Unix/Linux Engineer with deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience in Red Hat, Solaris, and Oracle Linux environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, configuration, and support of enterprise-level Linux systems, with a strong focus on system stability, security, and performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Administer and support Red Hat Linux, Solaris, and Oracle Linux systems.
    • Handle OS installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting activities.
    • Implement and manage virtualization technologies in the environment.
    • Configure and support clustering for high availability and fault tolerance.
    • Perform user and group account management in line with security policies.
    • Monitor server health: disk space, CPU, memory, network usage, and concurrent logins.
    • Conduct scheduled backups and ensure compliance with company policies.
    • Provide remote and on-site OS support for critical deployments.
    • Liaise with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
    • Ensure system hardening and assist the security team with audits and remediation.
    • Lead technology refresh projects within the infrastructure domain.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 8 years of post-NYSC experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
    • Strong knowledge of Red Hat, Solaris, and Oracle Linux operating systems.
    • Solid experience in virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM).
    • Familiarity with enterprise clustering, storage, and backup systems.
    • Demonstrated experience working in Telco or Tech industry environments.
    • Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
    • Industry certifications (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE) are highly desirable.
    • Windows Server experience or certification is an added advantage.
