Responsibilities

• The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and for any other matters relating to the Library.
• Among other responsibilities, he/she shall collect and systematize adequate and relevant library materials
• Ensure regular training and development of library professionals and support staff, allocate the approved funds of the library and give returns on utilization
• Ensure that library professional staff comply with the ethics of the Librarian Registration Council
• Ensure that the library is digitized, computerized, networked, and integrated into national and international networks
• Facilitate inter-library cooperation and provide access to the resources of other libraries; generate revenue outside the allocation by the University
• Organise the library’s human resource functions etc.

The Candidate

• Candidates for the position of University Librarian should be holders of Ph.D. degree in Library and Information Science from recognized Universities with 15 years working experience in Academic Library.
• Registration with the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) is compulsory.
• Candidates must also satisfy the requirement of academic publications and must possess specialized computer skills.
