    Underwriting & Administrative Officer

    The successful candidate shall support the Central Operations & Special Risks team in Claims administration, statistics, underwriting, reporting and any other tasks as delegated from time to time. The candidate shall also act as a personal administrative assistant to the Director of Central Operations and Special Risks.

    DUTIES/JOB DETAILS

    The main duties of the Underwriting & Administrative Officer shall comprise amongst others the following:

    • Support underwriting and claims activities at the corporate level, including verification of major claims for Management approval;
    • Support underwriting and claims activities of the Pools managed by the Corporation;
    • Assist the Department of Central Operations and Special Risks in project management, records management and coordination of events/meetings;
    • Coordinate and manage the Director’s schedule of activities;
    • Coordinate inter-departmental administrative tasks;
    • Take minutes of Departmental and Interdepartmental meetings;
    • Assist the Department in the preparation of Statistics and Management Reports;
    • Any other tasks as delegated from time to time by the supervisor.

    JOB LOCATION

    The successful candidate shall be based in Lagos- Nigeria.

    Main Competencies

    • Knowledge of Insurance and Reinsurance underwriting and claims management;
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as proven writing and reporting skills;
    • Proficiency in Re/Insurance systems;
    • Accuracy and keen attention to details;
    • Fast-learner with ability to multitask;
    • Very high integrity and good sense of responsibility;
    • A self-starter with ability to work under minimum supervision;
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others in a team environment;
    • Ability to adapt quickly in a challenging and fast-paced multi-cultural environment;
    • Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

    QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

    Applicants shall be holders of

    • First University Degree in relevant fields (in Insurance, Business Administration, Commerce, Statistics, Economics or any other relevant degree).
    • Knowledge and practical experience with Underwriting, Claims, Statistics and Administrative work;
    • At least 4-5 Years of experience in a similar role;
    • Relevant work experience in a reputable Insurance/Reinsurance organisation at similar level is required;
    • Relevant Professional qualifications will be added advantage.

    Applicants must also be:

    • Fluent in English and working knowledge of French will be an added advantage;
    • Nationals of a members State of Africa Re;

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    The successful candidate shall have the following benefits:

    • Competitive Basic Salary on the Corporation’s Grade Level SS3
    • Variable pay (Annual Performance Bonus)
    • Joint contribution to the Provident Fund (7% of the basic salary paid by staff and 14% by the employer)
    • Children education subsidy for each child up to 26 years (maximum 4 children)

    • Inflation Adjustment allowance that may increase or decrease depending on the economic situation and inflation.
