SUMMARY OF SERVICE

The communications function within the LEARN to Read Activity caters for internal and external messaging, branding and marking, reporting, information gathering, content recreation, formatting and dissemination of approved materials about the project and achievements in the appropriate languages.

REPORTING & SUPERVISION

The translators report to the Communications Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Translate relevant project collaterals, publicity and advocacy materials into Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.
• Edit translated materials to suit specified audiences and identified purposes.
• Proofread materials to ensure accuracy, clarity and appropriate messaging.
• Submit materials in a timely manner for intended occasions.
• Ensure materials are context-appropriate, without jargons, expressed in simple language to facilitate audiences’ understanding.
• Deploy appropriate language register and vocabulary levels for the translation, in a way that appeals to the intended audiences.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficient in the target language – Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba
• At least a university degree in languages or other relevant fields, with demonstrated competencies
• in the target language.
• At least 5 years of experience in translation.
• Thorough and accurate, with attention to details, consistently delivering high quality translations.
• Ability to patiently follow through on due process and multilayered reviews, to create a final copy.
