The TB Advisor will work alongside other joint TB LON team members in Katsina State to support the Senior Program Officer in improving facility- and community-based TB case-finding strategies.
S/he will support the strengthening of active TB case finding in the private sector and communities in the state.
S/he will ensure that KNCV Nigeria TB interventions in both the Private and community sectors are in-line with Organisational standards and NTBLCP. National guidelines
This will include use of hotspot mapping for targeted community case finding and analysis of current systems aimed at improving the efficiency of the negotiated business model employed in the private sector.
The advisor will coordinate with key stakeholders in the state (private practitioners, umbrella bodies of both formal and informal private health sectors, and community and religious leaders).
The TB Advisor will work directly with the Senior Program Officer in Katsina with direct managerial oversight from the Cluster Senior Program Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate implementation of targeted community active TB case-finding activities in identified hotspots across all LGA’s in the state.
Facilitate routine TB screening and linkage of presumptive TB identified from the private sector to diagnosis and care with notification to the NTP M&E system.
Capacity building through mentorship of State TB program team members, KNCV Nigeria strategic service package provider staff, and other health care workers in the private sector.
Conduct site mentorship and quality improvement visits for community and private sector interventions.
Work closely with and provide technical guidance with oversight to the senior PPM associate in the state.
Facilitate opportunities for intersectoral collaborations with other stakeholders across disease control program entities in the state.
Perform other additional duties assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
MBBS, Master’s Degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related social science field, with applicability to international TB epidemiology
At least 5 years of experience in public health projects.
Experience with USG or UN projects or any development partner is an advantage.
Strong coordination, planning, and supervisory skills.
Competent with operational plan development, implementation, and evaluation of results.
Comfortable planning and delivering multiple activities under pressure to strict deadlines with high levels of precision.
Self-motivated with a strong ability to identify and develop relevant areas of work.
Able to communicate complex issues in a concise, accessible, and engaging manner. Experience in coordinating multiple party stakeholders.
Experience in wide scale community-based intervention.
Experience in community mobilization efforts.
Experience managing complex health data.
Excellent written and verbal English language ability.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team; dynamic, solid, and open.
Must be flexible with absolute integrity, organizational awareness, and understanding of cultural differences.
Have a high sense of integrity and transparency.
Ability to manage official information in a confidential manner.
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
