Supervisor: Technical Maintenance (Cold Chain) at DP World

Job Context

• The Refrigerator & Air Conditioning Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems used in our cold chain logistics operations. This role ensures that all equipment is operating efficiently and in compliance with industry standards and regulations to maintain the integrity of the cold chain.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

Maintenance oversight:

• Schedule and perform regular maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in refrigeration units and cooling system of cold-chain trucks
• Maintain records of maintenance and repair activities.

Temperature Control & Monitoring

• Monitoring and controlling the temperature and humidity levels in storage facilities once they return from a trip to ensure they meet the required standards.
• Managing a temperature monitoring system to track conditions in real-time
• Implement corrective actions to maintain optimal temperature control
• Identify and troubleshoot any temperature fluctuations that could compromise product integrity
• Monitor and maintain consistent and appropriate temperatures within cold-chain transportation vehicles

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensuring that all refrigeration and air conditioning trucks comply with health and safety regulations, as well as industry standards.
• Keeping up to date with changes in regulations and best practices in cold chain management.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Prepare and maintain detailed reports on maintenance schedules, repairs, and system performance.
• Provide regular updates to the Operations Manager on the status of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and repair activities.

Energy Efficiency:

• Identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency in the refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Implementing energy-saving measures to reduce operational costs.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in cold-chain refrigeration technology.
• Collaborate with other departments within the cold-chain logistics operation (e.g., warehouse, transportation) to ensure seamless coordination.
• Continuously improve cold-chain procedures to enhance efficiency and minimize product spoilage.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or any other related field

Skills and Experience Required

• Minimum 2-5 years’ relevant experience
• Experienced working in a Transport Environment
• Proficiency in diagnostic tools and equipment
• Understanding of customer and vehicle manufacturer specifications
• Understanding of ERP systems for converting notifications into work orders
• Experience with spare parts inventory management
