    Supervisor (Data Entry)

    Purpose of the assignment

    • The entomology survey aims to gather data on insecticide resistance of malaria vectors in Ondo State. The insecticide resistance data will be used for assessing changes in insecticide resistance status of the local vectors post-ITN distribution campaign
    • The purpose of this term of reference (TOR) is to engage data clerks and a supervisor who will enter the packaging codes of the mosquitoes collected from entomology studies in Ondo state.

    Scope

    • The work involves double entry and validation of data from hard copies. The mosquitoes will be collected from entomology studies in Anambra and Ondo. Data codes from various rounds of mosquito collections using centre for disease control (CDC) light traps and entomology forms filed during entomology studies in both states will be entered into Epidata.
    • The data clerks and supervisors that will enter the entomology forms will be trained for two day in Akure in the use of Epidata. Twenty (20) forms per day will be entered by each data clerk in Epidata in Ondo for 23 days.

    Methods

    • The mosquitoes will be collected from the different entomology studies (insecticide resistance monitoring and vector biting behaviour). Anopheles mosquitoes were collected using the CDC light trap collections from the Ondo round four in November 2023, round 5 in June 2024 and round six in December 2024. Insecticide resistance monitoring was carried out to know the status of Anopheles mosquitoes in some selected sites in Anambra and Ondo states. The mosquitoes were packaged and given codes. These mosquitoes will be sent to the laboratory and will be analysed based on each code.
    • Data on each entomology forms will be entered twice independently by two data entry clerks in Epidata. The doubly entry will then be validated by the supervisor using the software to generate a clean dataset. In cases where discrepancies are identified between entries, the supervisor will refer back to the original paper-based data form (filled by the entomologist from the survey) for clarification. The data clerks will then be asked to re-enter the data to initiate another round of validation.
