    Sports Master and Talent Coach

    Job Purpose

    • To organise, develop and deliver a varied range of sporting activities, projects or programmes.
    • To increase the participation and performance levels of students in sport and physical recreation.
    • To direct and manage the school sport and physical recreation programmes by effectively providing highly skilled Leadership, Administration, Communication, and Resource management
    • To partner and work with a wide range of local and national agencies involved in running and supporting school sport competitions, events, and leadership and volunteering opportunities.
    • To supervise the use of all sporting equipment and facilities in the school and schedule a timetable robust enough to make sure all students in the school engage in sporting activities.

    Key Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop, manage, and supervise developmentally appropriate sports and recreational programs in line with the school’s overall educational mission and goals and accessible to all students.
    • Formulate short- and long-term goals for sport and physical recreation.
    • Research potential of broadening the school sports competitive horizons.
    • Lead a working group that helps shape the direction of sport and physical recreation and supports the actions taken.
    • Maintain and extend skills and knowledge in the field of sport and physical recreation
    • Execute the sport and physical recreation annual plan.
    • Maintain accurate records of team and individual athletic statistics and accomplishments.
    • Contribute to the achievement of the school values and objectives.
    • Regular meetings with relevant staff/personnel in charge of sports/activities
    • Recognise student achievement, and organise sports awards and prize-giving ceremonies
    • Promote and publicise sports and physical recreation opportunities.
    • Organise and promote major school sporting events such as Athletic events, Swimming Sports, Cross country, etc.  
    • Target specific and physical recreation activities/events to increase participation.
    • Establish effective liaison and relationship with regional sport bodies and other groups.
    • Ensure good communication channel within the school about sport and physical recreation activities offered
    • Develop and establish a training programme to meet the needs of staff/students/ parents/community volunteers.
    • Evaluate and provide leadership to evaluate and continuously improve each sport and overall athletic program.
    • Supervise programs to ensure that all school programs comply with requirements and procedures of the school.
    • Attend sport and physical recreation activities (games, events, and practices)
    • Provide sport and physical recreation teams/groups with suitable support personnel.
    • Publish the Sporting code of conduct and relevant documentation
    • Establish and administer system for storage, maintenance, issue and return of school sport and physical recreation uniforms and equipment.
    • Regularly inspect the conditions of all athletic fields and facilities and reports conditions and needs to the principal of the school and/or Schools Management Office.
    • Prepare the sport and physical recreation annual budget.
    • Develop and establish a system to ensure the safety of all involved in the sport and physical recreation programme.
    • Promote the establishment of sports clubs within the school.
    • Promote positive benefits of participation in sport and physical recreation within school and community
    • Manage the school facilities/spaces related to sport and physical recreation activity
    • Organise and coordinate inter-house/inter-class sports and physical recreation programme based on the school framework and priorities.
    • Complies with StreSERT Management policies and regulations.
    • Undertake other duties (as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of this job description) which may reasonably be required or requested by the principal or members of the Senior Leadership Team and any duties that the Schools Management Office deems necessary for the effective operation of the school(s).

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) degree in Physical and Health Education or its equivalent, minimum of second-class lower Division.
    • Any higher degree or qualification, especially in the field of Physical and Health Education is an advantage.
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in an athletics-related role in an educational environment.
    • Experience teaching and coaching different sports as well as different levels.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Language.
    • An effective and competent staff member with the ability to deal with students in non-confrontational ways.
    • Have the ability to lead a team and establish common goals and targets.
    • Have a high level of self-motivation coupled with flexibility.
    • Be able to gain the confidence and respect of students and adults in order to influence their behaviour and attitude.
    • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
