    Site Project Architect

    Role Summary

    • The role is fundamentally design and delivery-led and requires the architect to independently develop, review, coordinate, and update architectural designs, construction drawings, specifications, and other project documentation in response to project requirements.
    • The post-holder shall serve as a key architectural resource for assigned projects and will work closely with project managers, structural and civil engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, quantity surveyors, consultants, contractors, and site teams to ensure that architectural solutions are technically sound, coordinated, practical, and buildable.
    • A key requirement of the role is the ability to provide rapid turnaround on design modifications, revisions, technical clarifications, and urgent project requirements.
    • The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced project environment where priorities may change quickly and architectural decisions may need to be made within tight timelines.

    Key Responsibilities
    Architectural Design & Development:

    • Develop architectural concepts, designs, layouts, and detailed solutions in line with project briefs and client requirements.
    • Prepare architectural plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and construction drawings.
    • Develop and modify architectural designs in response to project requirements and site conditions.
    • Translate project briefs and technical requirements into practical and buildable architectural solutions.
    • Review existing designs and identify areas requiring improvement, modification, or coordination.
    • Ensure architectural designs meet applicable building regulations, standards, codes, and project specifications.
    • Contribute to design development from concept stage through detailed design and construction documentation.
    • Provide architectural input into value engineering and design optimisation exercises.
    • Ensure that design solutions consider functionality, constructability, aesthetics, cost, durability, and project timelines

    Design Revisions & Rapid Response:

    • Provide rapid turnaround on design updates, revisions, and modifications.
    • Respond promptly to urgent architectural requirements from project and site teams.
    • Review requests for design changes and determine appropriate architectural solutions.
    • Assess the implications of proposed design modifications on construction, cost, programme, and appropriate channels.

    Construction Documentation:

    • Prepare detailed architectural construction drawings and documentation.
    • Develop architectural details necessary for construction execution.
    • Prepare and maintain drawing registers and revision records.
    • Ensure drawings are properly coordinated and suitable for construction.
    • Review and update architectural specifications and schedules where required.
    • Ensure all issued drawings reflect the latest approved design information.
    • Maintain appropriate document control and drawing revision procedures.

    Site Support & Construction Supervision:

    • Conduct regular site visits and inspections as required.
    • Liaise directly with site teams to provide architectural guidance and clarification.
    • Monitor architectural works to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
    • Identify and resolve architectural issues arising during construction.
    • Review site conditions and recommend practical architectural solutions where required.
    • Review contractor shop drawings, material submissions, samples, and technical submissions.
    • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and other architectural technical queries.
    • Participate in site meetings, technical meetings, coordination meetings, and project reviews.
    • Identify deviations from approved architectural designs and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
    • Support the project team in ensuring that architectural works are delivered to the required quality standards.

    Multidisciplinary Coordination:

    • Coordinate architectural designs with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other engineering disciplines.
    • Work closely with Structural Engineers, MEP Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Consultants, Contractors, and other project stakeholders.
    • Identify and resolve design clashes before and during construction.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and coordination sessions.
    • Ensure that architectural designs are integrated with structural and MEP requirements.
    • Promote practical and buildable solutions across all project disciplines.

    Project Delivery:

    • Support projects throughout the full project lifecycle from design development through construction and completion.
    • Ensure assigned architectural deliverables are completed within agreed project timelines.
    • Monitor architectural deliverables against project programmes.
    • Identify potential design-related delays and escalate them appropriately.
    • Proactively resolve issues that could affect project delivery.
    • Support the Project Manager in achieving project milestones and objectives.
    • Maintain effective communication between the design team, project management team, contractors, and site personnel.
    • Take ownership of assigned architectural deliverables from initiation through completion.

    Quality Assurance & Compliance:

    • Conduct quality checks on all architectural drawings and documentation before issuance.
    • Ensure designs comply with applicable Nigerian building regulations, planning requirements, relevant codes, and project standards.
    • Ensure architectural works are executed in accordance with approved designs and specifications.
    • Identify design inconsistencies, omissions, errors, and constructability concerns.
    • Support project quality assurance and quality control processes.
    • Maintain high standards of technical accuracy, architectural quality, and documentation.

    Project Reporting & Documentation:

    • Provide architectural input into project reports and technical updates.
    • Document design changes, site observations, technical decisions, and architectural instructions.
    • Maintain organised records of drawings, revisions, submissions, and approvals.
    • Prepare technical presentations and design reports where required.
    • Support the preparation of project close-out documentation and as-built information.

    Qualifications & Experience
    The successful candidate must possess:

    • A Master’s Degree in Architecture from a recognised institution.
    • Minimum of 3 years of professional architectural experience.
    • Proven experience working on building, infrastructure, or construction projects.
    • Experience in architectural design development and construction documentation.
    • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams.
    • Demonstrated understanding of construction methods, materials, and site execution.
    • Experience providing architectural support during construction.
    • Previous experience working across multiple project locations will be an advantage.

    Technical & Software Requirements:
    The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in relevant architectural design and documentation software, including:

    • AutoCAD
    • Revit / BIM software
    • SketchUp
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • 3D modelling and rendering software
    • Knowledge of additional BIM, visualisation, project management, or technical documentation tools will be an advantage.
