Senior Structural Engineer (Designing and Detailing) at Carrillion Construction

Key Responsibilities:

• Innovate and develop complex structural designs and blueprints utilizing advanced engineering software, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations.
• Conduct thorough assessments of structural systems, methodically evaluating their strength, stability, and endurance under a variety of conditions and loads to guarantee robust performance.
• Oversee construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring strict adherence to design blueprints and safety protocols.
• Collaborate effectively with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure that structural designs are in alignment with the overall architectural vision.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate construction materials, taking into consideration factors such as cost, performance, and environmental impact in order to promote sustainable practices.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, uphold quality standards, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications and safety guidelines.
• Compile and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design calculations, reports, and project correspondence, to create a thorough project archive.
• Establish strong relationships with clients to understand their objectives, provide regular updates on project progress, and address any technical inquiries with clarity and professionalism.
• Create accurate structural drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and details, utilizing CAD software.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure precision and adherence to design specifications.
• Review and modify drawings according to design changes or client specifications, ensuring thorough documentation of all adjustments.
• Generate quantity take-offs and schedules to assist project managers with procurement and planning activities.
• Ensure that all detailed drawings conform to relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Identify and resolve design and construction challenges in cooperation with team members and stakeholders.
• Maintain comprehensive records of all drawings, revisions, and correspondence associated with projects.
• Conduct quality assessments on drawings and documentation to ensure all outputs align with company standards.
• Occasionally perform site visits to gather information and verify that construction aligns with detailed drawings and specifications.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• A valid Professional Engineer license or certification as a Structural Engineer (COREN).
• A minimum of 10-20 years of practical experience in structural engineering across a variety of construction projects.
• Proficient use of engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, or similar tools that enhance design accuracy and efficiency.
• Willingness to adapt to evolving project demands, regulations, and technologies for agile responses to changing circumstances.
• Mastery of structural engineering principles, building materials, and design methodologies is essential for success in this role.
• Strong collaborative skills within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to clients and team members.
• Proven experience in structural detailing, preferably in residential, luxury, commercial, or industrial projects.
• Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications.
• Knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and systems.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Experience with 3D modeling software is regarded as advantageous.
