Senior Product Manager - Cards & Corebanking at straitPay

The role 

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager who is passionate about building products that will make spending and Investing in Africa a lot easier. You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment to design, build and roll-out products that deliver the company’s vision and strategy. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth 
• Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners 
• Develop product pricing and positioning strategies 
• Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes Scope and prioritise activities based on business and customer impact Work closely with engineering teams to deliver with quick time-to-market and optimal resources 
• Test product features and make recommendations 
• Drive product launches including working with public relations team, executives, and other product management team members 
• Evaluate promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with product line strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed 
• Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding at a higher level
• Represent the company by interacting with customers to solicit feedback on company products and services 

Requirements and Qualifications 

• 5 7 years of relevant hands-on experience as a senior product manager in a fast-paced technology start-up. 
• Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle 
• Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management 
• Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies 
• Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done 
• Skilled at working effectively & independently with cross functional teams in a startup environment & matrix organisation 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent is a bonus but not mandatory 
• Experience in banking, or financial technology product is a bonus but not mandatory 
• Product experience in cards and core systems, including:
• experience in core banking product development and scaling of card products (debit, prepaid, virtual);
• hands-on work with card issuing & acquiring, full card lifecycle, pricing, and fraud controls;
• integrations with card processors and payment schemes;
• defining and managing requirements for Core Banking / Core Ledger systems;
• launch and scaling of core functionalities (accounts, wallets, transactions);
• close collaboration with compliance, KYC/KYB, and operations teams.
