Senior Mobile Developer (React Native) at 247Bet

Role Description

• This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Mobile Developer, based in Lagos — hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office. Mobile is where Nigerian betting happens, and our app is the product for most customers. You'll build and own the React Native app across Android and iOS — live odds, bet slip, wallet, social feed, and copy-betting — with Android on mid-range devices as the primary reality: limited memory, patchy data, and users who will uninstall anything heavy or slow. This is a hands-on role for a mobile engineer who has shipped and maintained production apps at scale and sweats app size, startup time, and crash rates.

What You'll Do

• Build and own core app experiences in React Native across Android and iOS: sportsbook, bet slip, wallet, account, and social/copy-betting features
• Implement real-time features — live odds, in-play betting, cash-out, and push-driven updates — that stay correct through network drops and reconnects
• Optimise relentlessly for mid-range Android: app size, cold start, memory, battery, and data usage
• Handle money-critical flows with care: idempotent bet submission, deposit/withdrawal states, and secure session handling
• Own release engineering: build pipelines, staged rollouts, OTA updates, and Play Store / App Store submissions
• Monitor crash rates, ANRs, and performance metrics, and drive them down continuously
• Integrate push notifications, deep linking, and in-app messaging
• Write native modules (Kotlin/Swift) when React Native needs help
• Collaborate with backend engineers on efficient BFF contracts designed for mobile constraints
• Mentor mid-level mobile engineers and set standards for the mobile codebase

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of mobile engineering experience, with 3+ years in React Native shipping production apps
• Apps live in the Play Store / App Store that you can point to and explain your role in
• Strong TypeScript, plus working knowledge of the native layer (Kotlin and/or Swift)
• Proven performance optimisation experience on low/mid-range Android devices
• Experience with real-time data in mobile apps (WebSockets, push) and robust offline/reconnect handling
• Solid grasp of mobile security for apps handling money: secure storage, certificate pinning, session management
• Experience with mobile CI/CD, staged rollouts, and crash/performance monitoring (Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics, or similar)
• Strong testing habits and clean, maintainable codeNice to Have
• Experience building betting, gaming, fintech, or wallet apps
• Experience shipping apps for African markets and data-constrained users
• Familiarity with OTA update tooling (CodePush/EAS Update)
• Play Integrity / App Attest and anti-tampering experience
