Overview

• We're seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager: Data Governance & Quality to lead the enterprise-wide data governance strategy and ensure data quality across the organization.
• In this role, you will define and enforce governance policies, roles, and standards; oversee data quality metrics and remediation processes; and work closely with legal, risk, compliance, and technical teams to meet regulatory obligations.
• You will be a champion of data stewardship, embedding governance principles into platforms, data products, and operational processes to drive business value and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, including policies, roles, stewardship, and standards.
• Define and enforce data quality metrics, KPIs, and remediation processes.
• Oversee metadata management, data lineage, and cataloguing tools.
• Partner with legal, risk, and compliance teams to meet regulatory data obligations.
• Chair or support data governance councils and stakeholder working groups.
• Embed governance practices into platforms, data products, and operational processes.
• Promote a data ownership and stewardship culture across business domains.

Qualifications Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field.
• Master’s Degree in Data Governance, Data Management, or MBA (preferred).

Experience:

• 8 –12 years of experience in data governance, data management, or information quality roles.
• Proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks in complex, regulated environments (e.g., financial services, fintech, telecoms).
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across business, risk, legal, compliance, and technical teams.
• Familiarity with data regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, BCBS 239) and enterprise data management principles (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM).

Preferred Certifications:

• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) – DAMA.
• DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model).
