    Senior Laboratory Analyst

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct microbiological analyses on a variety of samples, including but not limited to water, food, pharmaceuticals, and environmental samples, using a range of laboratory techniques and equipment.
    • Perform microbial identifications, enumeration, and viability assessments according to established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Interpret test results, perform data analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports for clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including ISO standards, IPAN guidelines, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), by adhering to established protocols and quality assurance procedures.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to address deviations and ensure the integrity of test results.
    • Provide technical guidance and training to laboratory staff, including mentoring other analysts, conducting proficiency testing, and facilitating continuous professional development.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support research projects, method development/validation, and process improvement initiatives.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory, including calibration and maintenance of equipment, proper storage of reagents and samples, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
    • Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, and accreditation processes, assisting with documentation and compliance activities as needed.
    • Stay current with advances in microbiology, laboratory technology, and regulatory requirements through continuous learning and professional development activities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology,or any related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years cognate experience working in a public laboratory.
    • IPAN membership is a MUST.
    • Proficiency in aseptic techniques, microbial culturing, microscopy, and biochemical assays.
    • Proficiency in Physicochemical Analysis: The ideal candidate should possess the capability to conduct physicochemical analyses in addition to microbiological testing. This includes the ability to perform a range of analytical techniques such as pH measurement, titrations, spectrophotometry, chromatography (e.g., HPLC, GC), and other relevant methods as required.
    • The candidate should have a solid understanding of principles and procedures related to physicochemical analysis and be able to interpret and analyze results accurately. This competency ensures comprehensive testing capabilities and enhances the laboratory's capacity to provide holistic analytical services to clients across various industries.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and troubleshoot technical issues.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including mentoring, coaching, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and computerized data analysis tools.
    • Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), including ISO 17025 is highly desirable.
