Role Description

• This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based applications and services, with a strong focus on building scalable, secure, and reliable systems. The engineer will work on microservices architectures, implement solutions using the Spring Framework, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical designs. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean and efficient code, performing code reviews, optimizing application performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring best practices in software development and deployment. The Senior Java Software Engineer will also mentor junior engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and support continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Qualifications

• Strong Java and general Programming skills, with a track record of building robust applications.
• Proficiency in Software Development principles, including design patterns, testing, and version control.
• Hands-on experience with Microservices architecture and building distributed systems.
• Advanced knowledge of the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security).
• Experience with RESTful APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and integration with third-party services.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and modern deployment practices.
• Ability to work on-site in Lekki and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to writing maintainable code.
• Previous experience in a senior or lead engineering role and mentoring other developers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Banking or Fintech experience is a plus.
