    Senior Investment Officer

    Job Description

    • Integrate sustainable investing principles into investment consideration, directing and coordinating the preparation of reports on investment returns and strategy for review and discussion in regularly scheduled Investments Committee and portfolio review meetings as well as any ad hoc meetings as requested.
    • Evaluate structure, negotiate, and close new transactions, portfolio restructurings, rescheduling, capital increases, equity sales, etc.
    • Develop innovative and appropriate financial structures for straightforward transactions.
    • Monitor and evaluate the investment risks and returns and the quality of the selected fund managers, co-investments and separately managed accounts.
    •  Promote a high standard of transparency and accountability in all aspects of the management of the assets of the Fund through accurate record keeping; directing production of investment data that is accurate and timely.
    • Interact effectively with internal and external auditors to ensure that assets are fully protected.
    • Maintain a high level of professional investment expertise and knowledge.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, global and regional private businesses, banking and multilateral partners and government officials to further develop the sector and to develop specific investment opportunities.
    • Nurture investor relationships and convert prospective investors into Approved Investment Leads through continued engagement.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, or any business-related degree. 
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance or any related field
    • ACA / CIMA, CFA; IT Knowledge
    • Experience working with one of the Big 4 is a plus or an asset
    • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in finance with responsibility that includes significant experience in finance, investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, structured finance, corporate finance, or private equity, with a proven track record of sourcing, structuring and closing investments.
    • Strong analytical skills to review and analyze complex financial information. Knowledge and experience in global financial markets including expertise in emerging markets.
    • Excellent business judgment and problem-solving skills to identify issues, present creative, practical solutions, and make and commit to sound decisions, anticipating short- and long-term implications.
    • Advanced financial, credit and risk evaluation skills.
    • Culturally sensitive and high degree of diplomacy and sensitivity in dealing with internal and external clients.
    • Strong negotiation skills.
    • Experience in identifying, originating and qualifying new business opportunities developing and executing results-driven client engagements.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to synthesize and present information effectively and tailored to different audiences.
    • Highly motivated, committed to highest ethical standards.
    • Willingness to travel extensively and geographical flexibility.

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA)

    • Knowledge of relevant industry sector trends, experience in emerging markets a plus.
    • Strong financial and credit skills; demonstrated ability to structure a variety of financial instruments (debt and equity).
    • Business development and client relationship skills, track record and ability to focus on clients’ needs effectively.
    • Ability to interact directly and independently with the senior management of potential clients, of financial and technical partners as well as senior government officials.
    • Deep understanding of how infrastructure sector investments are structured.
    • Strong understanding of project and concession finance.
    • Strong inter-personal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
    • Ability to mentor junior investment staff.
