Senior Frontend Engineer, Web Experiences at Paystack

About the Role

• We are seeking an exceptional Senior Frontend Engineer with a strong focus on public-facing web experiences, motion, interactivity, and high-quality frontend craft.
• This role is for someone who can take a brief and turn it into a polished, production-ready web experience end-to-end. You should be comfortable working from early concept through implementation, shaping interaction patterns, translating visual direction into expressive web surfaces, and shipping experiences that are beautiful, accessible, fast, and reliable.
• You will work on some of Paystack’s most visible web properties, including our main website, product pages, launch surfaces, educational pages, microsites, and other public-facing experiences. The ideal person combines strong frontend engineering fundamentals with a sharp eye for design, interaction, motion, and detail.
• You’ll collaborate closely with design, product, marketing, content, and engineering teams to create clear, engaging, and memorable web experiences for merchants, developers, partners, and businesses across Africa.
• This role is hybrid and requires working from the Paystack office closest to you for at least two days a week.

We’ll trust you to

• Own public-facing web experiences from concept through launch, including websites, microsites, landing pages, product pages, launch pages, and other high-visibility web surfaces.
• Translate briefs, product narratives, visual direction, and design explorations into polished, interactive web experiences.
• Design and build responsive, accessible, motion-rich, and high-performing interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
• Shape interaction patterns and web experience ideas, especially where the solution is not fully specified upfront.
• Collaborate closely with design, product, marketing, content, and engineering teams to create web experiences that communicate clearly and feel distinctively Paystack.
• Build reusable patterns, components, and interaction systems that improve the quality and speed of future web work.
• Bring strong judgment to frontend implementation decisions, including animation approach, rendering strategy, performance tradeoffs, accessibility, and maintainability.
• Partner with other frontend engineers to improve our web architecture, development workflows, deployment processes, and frontend standards.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, implementation feedback, and technical guidance.
• Help raise the overall quality bar for craft, interaction, accessibility, and polish across Paystack’s web surfaces.

You’ll thrive in this role if you

• 6+ years of frontend engineering experience, with strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frontend tooling.
• Demonstrated experience building polished public-facing websites, microsites, landing pages, product pages, or other highly visual web surfaces.
• Strong sense of visual design, interaction design, typography, layout, motion, and user experience.
• Ability to translate briefs, design direction, and product messaging into thoughtful, production-ready web experiences.
• Experience with motion and interactivity on the web, using tools such as GSAP, Framer Motion, CSS animations, scroll-driven animation, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, semantic HTML, and inclusive user experience principles.
• Good understanding of frontend performance, including image optimization, loading strategies, Core Web Vitals, animation performance, and rendering tradeoffs.
• Experience working with design tools such as Figma and collaborating closely with designers or creative partners.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and rendering strategies, especially React.
• Strong product and storytelling instincts, with the ability to make good decisions when requirements are ambiguous.
• Comfortable owning work end-to-end, communicating tradeoffs, and driving projects forward with minimal direction.
• Proven experience leveraging LLMs and AI development tools to improve productivity, explore ideas, and accelerate delivery.

Bonus points if you:

• Experience with Three.js, WebGL, React Three Fiber, or other immersive web technologies.
• Experience with Webflow or similar low-code/no-code web design tools.
• Experience building design systems, component libraries, or reusable interaction patterns.
• Experience working on product launches, developer-facing websites, educational content, or high-visibility public web experiences.
• Strong portfolio of interactive web work, motion-heavy interfaces, microsites, or public-facing web experiences.
