The main responsibility of the senior delft light case finding associate is to perform radiological duties in compliance with international standards using a mobile digital x-ray backpack unit. S/he will also perform selected administrative and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of quality radiography for the purposes of screening clients for TB in a mobile environment as part of an Active TB Case Finding (ACF) & Contact Investigation team.
Hierarchically, The Senior Delft Light Case Finding Associate reports to and works under the daily supervision of the Cluster Laboratory Advisor/Senior Program Officer.
Job Description
Participates in community engagement and mobilization activities for TB ACF.
Conducts screening of clients to identify presumptive TB for digital x-ray examination when applicable.
Will ensure sputum collection from identified presumptive and transportation in ice cold boxes for GeneXpert or TB LAM diagnostic evaluation.
Prepares the client for radiological procedures.
Takes measures to protect clients, oneself and other staff from radiation exposure according to best practices and manufacturer’s guidelines.
Takes quality diagnostic radiographs of clients according to established procedures for patient care and safety
Ensures a maximum of two and half minutes is spent per client for x-ray, while maintaining a repeat rate of two percent or less.
Accurately documents completed radiological procedures, completely and promptly.
Stores all radiographs in an easily retrievable manner.
Ensures that all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Reports immediately any equipment malfunctions to the Cluster Laboratory Advisor where available /Senior Program Officer.
Maintains mobile x-ray unit, stock necessary radiological supplies.
Makes suggestions to improve work methods.
Serves as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
Keeps record of the dosimetry readings.
Trains new employees.
Works closely with the other team members for the purposes of prompt diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Performs any other tasks as directed by the Cluster Laboratory Advisor where available /Senior Program Officer.
Any other duties that may be assigned by the cluster Laboratory Advisor.
Skills and Qualifications
Holds a science degree or a university graduate of medical radiology or an X-ray technologist (from a school of health technology) or any other related field.
A current X-Ray Technology certificate or license from a program approved in Nigeria will be an added advantage.
At least 2-4 years of experience in public health projects.
Experience in working in the fields of TB/HIV, community TB, and MDR TB, with extensive field experience in Nigeria.
Experience in managing a team.
Experience in coordinating multiple party stakeholders.
Experience in wide scale community-based intervention.
