    Safety Officer

    Job Summary:

    • The Safety Officer is accountable for ensuring a secure work environment at our construction sites by implementing safety policies, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, and enhancing safety awareness among employees. This position necessitates collaboration with project managers and personnel to minimize risks and ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Safety Policy Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures per local, state, and federal regulations. 
    • Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.
    • Training and Education: Organize safety training sessions for employees to ensure a thorough understanding of safety practices, equipment usage, and emergency procedures.
    • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, near misses, and safety infractions to ascertain root causes and implement appropriate corrective measures. 
    • Safety Reporting: Maintain precise records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities. Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required. 
    • Environmental Compliance: Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and advocate for sustainable practices within construction processes.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with project managers, supervisors, and employees to cultivate a culture of safety and ensure effective communication regarding safety concerns. 
    • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans; conduct drills to ensure preparedness for a variety of emergencies. 

    Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred. 
    • Certification in safety management, such as OSHA Certified or NEBOSH, is highly desirable. 
    • A minimum of three to five years of experience in safety management within the construction sector. 
    • Strong knowledge of relevant safety laws and regulations. 
    • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. 
    • Capability to conduct physical inspections of construction sites. 
    • Proficiency in lifting and carrying materials and equipment as necessary. 
    • The Safety Officer will primarily operate on construction sites, which may expose them to typical construction hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
