Health & Safety Officer at Java Design Concepts Ltd

Java Design Concept Ltd, a reputable construction and design company, is seeking to recruit a Senior Health & Safety Officer with 3–5 years of proven experience in occupational health, safety management, and compliance within the construction industry. The successful candidate will champion safety culture, ensure compliance with statutory regulations, and provide leadership on all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure preventive measures are in place.
• Lead safety inductions, trainings, and toolbox talks for staff and contractors.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards.
• Investigate incidents/accidents and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, contractors, and management on all HSE matters.

Requirements

• B.Sc./HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HSE role.
• Relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, ISPON, or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of Nigerian safety laws, regulations, and international standards (ISO 45001, OSHA, etc.).
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a strong safety culture in construction environments.
