    Rules & Interpretation Officer

    Job Summary

    • We seek to hire an exceptional individual to manage the Rules and Interpretation unit, working closely with the Head, Rules and Adjudication.

    Responsibilities

    • End-to-end management of the rule making process of “The Exchange” and other applicable entities.
    • Writing and putting out of notices to Trading License Holders, Issuers and other stakeholders.
    • Exposing of proposed rules to stakeholders and the public; reviewing and providing responses to stakeholders’ comments on proposed rules.
    • Interpreting and addressing enquiries on existing and proposed rules as well as enquiries on Capital Market and company laws for the benefit of internal/external stakeholders.
    • Working with NGX RegCo or other teams as appropriate to prepare and publish Interpretative Guidance, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), thought leadership and trainings.
    • Writing of comment letters on existing and proposed SEC Rules, policies or any other regulation or law that affects NGX and other stakeholders.

    Person Specification & Required Qualification(s)

    • Must be a Lawyer with a good Law Degree and 5 - 7 years’ post NYSC work experience.
    • Strong understanding of Securities laws and a good understanding of ISA 2007, SEC Rules, NGX Rules and CAMA 2020.
    • Sound business and legal judgment with problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to build strong partnerships with business and corporate staff.
    • Knowledgeable on Securities and Finance markets.
