    RF / POP Engineer

    Role Summary

    • The RF/POP Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, and optimization of Radio Frequency wireless systems and the physical Point of Presence (POP) infrastructure.
    • This role involves everything from link budget calculations and frequency planning to the "rack-and-stack" and cross-connect management within data centers or carrier hotels. You are the bridge between wireless transmission and the fiber backbone.

    Key Responsibilities
    RF Engineering & Optimization:

    • Link Budgeting: Calculate and verify link budgets to ensure signal integrity across microwave, millimeter-wave (mmWave), or satellite backhaul.
    • Spectrum Management: Conduct frequency coordination and interference analysis to minimize noise and maximize throughput.
    • Site Surveys: Perform physical and predictive RF heat mapping and site audits to determine optimal antenna placement and orientation.

    POP Infrastructure Management:

    • Deployment: Oversee the installation of routers, switches, and patch panels within POP sites.
    • Power & Cooling: Monitor and manage DC/AC power requirements, UPS systems, and thermal loads to ensure 99.999% uptime.
    • Cross-Connects: Coordinate with Tier-1 providers for fiber cross-connects and "Meet-Me-Room" (MMR) handoffs.

    Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

    • Testing: Utilize spectrum analyzers, OTDRs (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers), and signal generators to diagnose physical layer failures.
    • Emergency Response: Lead the restoration of services during fiber cuts, hardware failures, or atmospheric interference events.

    Qualifications

    • Interested candidates should possess an OND / HND / Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years experience.
