Radio Station Manager Job Description

Radio station managers ensure the smooth daily operation agricultural commercial radio station. He will manage the administrative, technical, program, and sales aspects of a station. He is accountable to Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and senior management, and he must strive to maintain the work environment, personality, and financial viability of the business.

The station manager is expected to perform multiple roles that may even include on-air work and other more confined duties. The Manager shall source and invite professional across the agriculture value chain ranging from crops, fruits, vegetable, animal husbandry, poultry, fisheries and aquaculture, productions processing, storage, transportation, and marketing including food nutrition and feed and fertilizer security and food processing

Job Duties of a Radio Station Manager

On a day-to-day basis, the radio station manager must supervise and coordinate the schedules, workflow, and responsibilities of various departments. Recommends hiring, training, and evaluating employees, as well as providing communication between departments and other human resource functions.

Radio station manager is also responsible for the success and profitability of the station. He must help determine and meet the financial goals of station owners. He must work with accountants and bookkeepers to track purchases, cash flow, and profits; prepare budgets; and maintain accountability. He is to organize and participate in fund-raising events or grant writing. Because most broadcast radio stations depend on the sale of advertising for income, the station manager must work closely with sales team and advertising sales staff which he is expected to guide especially for small holder farmers and food sellers.

The station manager must have enough technical knowledge to understand the operation of all station equipment. Together with engineer the station manager is in charged with facilities management and must make recommendations to CEO regarding the purchase of new equipment that may follow industry trends. He is also to ensure program and technical employees comply with local, state, and federal broadcasting regulations and other laws.
