The Radio Operator is responsible for maintaining effective communication between the rig, vessels, helicopters, shore-based offices, emergency services, and other relevant parties.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor marine, aviation, and rig communication systems.
Maintain continuous communication with vessels, helicopters, shore bases, and relevant authorities.
Receive and transmit operational and emergency messages accurately.
Maintain communication logs and records.
Monitor emergency and distress communication channels.
Support helicopter and vessel movement coordination.
Disseminate weather, operational, and safety information as required.
Test and maintain communication equipment.
Report equipment faults and coordinate repairs.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive communications.
Support emergency response and mustering activities.
Comply with applicable communication and radio operating procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum of OND/NCE in Telecommunications, Radio Communications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
2–5 years of relevant experience as a Radio Operator, preferably in marine, offshore, or oil & gas operations.
Relevant radio communication certification/licence as required by applicable regulations.
Knowledge of marine and/or aviation communication procedures is an advantage.
Experience operating VHF/HF/UHF and other communication systems.
Valid offshore safety certification and medical fitness where applicable.
