    Radio Operator

    Job Description

    • The Radio Operator is responsible for maintaining effective communication between the rig, vessels, helicopters, shore-based offices, emergency services, and other relevant parties.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate and monitor marine, aviation, and rig communication systems.
    • Maintain continuous communication with vessels, helicopters, shore bases, and relevant authorities.
    • Receive and transmit operational and emergency messages accurately.
    • Maintain communication logs and records.
    • Monitor emergency and distress communication channels.
    • Support helicopter and vessel movement coordination.
    • Disseminate weather, operational, and safety information as required.
    • Test and maintain communication equipment.
    • Report equipment faults and coordinate repairs.
    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive communications.
    • Support emergency response and mustering activities.
    • Comply with applicable communication and radio operating procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of OND/NCE in Telecommunications, Radio Communications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
    • 2–5 years of relevant experience as a Radio Operator, preferably in marine, offshore, or oil & gas operations.
    • Relevant radio communication certification/licence as required by applicable regulations.
    • Knowledge of marine and/or aviation communication procedures is an advantage.
    • Experience operating VHF/HF/UHF and other communication systems.
    • Valid offshore safety certification and medical fitness where applicable.
