This is a full-time on-site role for a Quantity Surveyor located in Lagos.
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for day-to-day tasks such as cost control, BOQ, cost management, cost planning, and cost reporting.
Job Role
Strategic Purchasing: Develop and implement innovative purchasing strategies aimed at achieving consistent cost reductions and simplifying procurement processes.
Documentation and Analysis: Prepare detailed reports, contract documents, budget estimates, risk assessments, and other essential project documentation to ensure project success.
Contract Negotiation: Skillfully negotiate pricing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring the best possible deals to optimize project cost-efficiency.
Meet subcontractors and suppliers on-site where necessary.
Ensure strict compliance with project budgets and provide in-depth analysis of any budget deviations.
Research new materials for design and cost savings.
Ensure that all subcontractors and suppliers provide insurance policies for products delivered.
Effective Communication: Collaborate with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors to maintain open lines of communication and efficient project execution.
Ensure awareness and company compliance to all building codes and local construction guidelines.
Assist in maintaining company quality control program.
Leverage technology, safety measures, and information sharing to increase productivity and profitability.
Handle change order requests and forecast upcoming demand.
Manage materials/equipment inventory.
Qualifications
Strong Cost Control and Cost Management skills
Experience in creating BOQ (Bill of Quantities)
Excellent Cost Planning and Cost Reporting skills
Attention to detail and ability to work with numbers
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
Relevant certifications, such as Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), would be a plus
Experience in the construction industry is preferred
