    Quantity Surveyor

    Our client in the Construction Industry is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs, prepare cost estimates, and ensure the commercial and financial success of construction projects.

    Job Summary

    The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts. The role ensures that projects are completed within budget while maintaining the required quality and compliance standards. The Quantity Surveyor prepares cost estimates, manages contracts, evaluates variations, and provides commercial advice to support efficient project delivery.

    Responsibilities

    Conduct feasibility studies and cost planning for proposed projects. 

    • Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and project budgets. 
    • Prepare tender documentation and evaluate contractor and supplier bids. 
    • Negotiate contracts and procurement terms with contractors and suppliers. 
    • Administer construction contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. 
    • Prepare and manage project cash flow forecasts. 
    • Monitor project costs and provide regular cost reports and forecasts. 
    • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project expenditure. 
    • Measure completed works and certify interim and final payments. 
    • Assess, value, and negotiate variations, claims, and change orders. 
    • Maintain accurate project records, documentation, and commercial reports. 
    • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams. 
    • Ensure compliance with applicable construction regulations, company policies, and industry standards. 
    • Support dispute resolution and preparation of final accounts.

    Requirements

    First degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. 

    • 3–5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the construction industry.
    • Professional certification or membership with a recognized quantity surveying institution is an advantage. 
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and contracts. 
    • Sound understanding of procurement and tendering processes. 
    • Excellent cost estimation and budgeting skills. 
    • Proficiency in quantity surveying and project management software. 
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. 
    • Strong analytical and numerical abilities. 
    • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills. 
    • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities. 
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
    • High level of accuracy and attention to detail. 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
