    Quality Innovation & Improvement Supervisor

    WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

    • Maintain product and manufacturing specification on the relevant applicable platform/application.
    • Monitoring of product performance and quality against specified targets (routine analytical, improvement etc).
    • Communication of any perceived performance issues to Product Innovation and Improvement Manager & Quality Manager for necessary action with proposals of necessary corrective action. Process to be identified against any approval framework.
    • Responsible to maintain cigarette specification on SAP. Must ensure manufacturing specification is available to meet production demand.
    • Coordinate & supervise all activities pertaining to sample manufacture for short trials and CPT/MASQ projects. Coordinate and Plan on time execution of Wrapping Materials and Sample development initiatives with manufacturing and supply chain for approved product development.
    • Identify and drive process improvement opportunities aiming at improving productivity with no adverse effect on product quality and integrity
    • Elaborate and communicate BOM requirements to Finance for Company Plan purposes.
    • Responsible to implement all product and material innovation in accordance with global programs and strategy
    • Ensure that all additives and materials used for cigarette production in factory are PSC approved. Administer and ensure that PSC and Ingredients Submission Database in Interact are kept updated
    • Responsible for master data defined in SAP for any new or modified SKU
    • Manage all activities pertaining to sample manufacture for short trials and CPT/MASQ projects.
    • Ensures the product specification is always up to date/completed and available for production areas
    • Ensures that all administrative processes are compliant with the BAT procedures and local legislation
    • Responsibility ends when first production (for new/modified SKU) has been successfully completed
    • To establish and maintain effective working relationships across the business. Particular emphasis on working with the SC hub and Brand Marketing; understanding end market brand portfolios, legislative requirements, production capabilities and marketing initiatives.
    • Work closely with the local Product Team and Regional Product Center to ensure product deliver against customer/consumer expectations
    • Work closely with the Quality Team, Manufacturing Team (SMD, PMD) and Warehouse Team.

    ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • University / College degree in an applied science-based subject is preferred;
    • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the tobacco and cigarette making industry or other FMCG experience
    • Ability to analyse and interpret physical and chemical data for product in relation to their attributes.
    • An effective team player who can work independently under pressure
    • Computer literate, equipped with project management experience
    • Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
    • Incumbent must have good experience in SAP and management of BAT specifications and Guidelines.
    • Detailed knowledge of cigarette production materials and how they can be combined or changed to achieve the desired product performance (would be a plus).
    • Understand the relationship between primary and secondary process with the resultant effect on smoking quality. Knowledge of the effect of tobacco processing on taste and fill value (would be a plus).
    • Sound knowledge of quality assurance, analytical and sensory evaluation techniques on both leaf and finished product to understand the impact on cigarette design/product performance (would be a plus).
