A Registered Quality Assurance Nurse is a nursing professional who focuses on evaluating and improving the quality of patient care in a healthcare setting. Duties include:
Interprets and implements quality assurance standards in hospital to ensure quality care to patients.
Reviews quality assurance standards, studies existing hospital policies and procedures.
Interviews hospital personnel and patients to evaluate effectiveness of quality assurance program.
Writes quality assurance policies and procedures.
Reviews and evaluates patients' medical records, applying quality assurance criteria.
Selects specific topics for review, such as problem procedures, drugs, high volume cases, high risk cases, or other factors.
Compiles statistical data and writes narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings.
Review patient records, applying utilization review criteria, to determine need for admission and continued stay in hospital.
Oversee risk management procedures
Document quality assurance activities, such as internal audits
Analyze customer grievances and other non-compliance issues
Gather and organize statistical quality data
Inspect data to detect areas for improvement
Elaborate, recommend and oversee improvement actions
Report on results of quality activities
Must be able to observe and evaluate existing practices and policies, makes recommendation for change when necessary.
Document all activities, findings and recommendations and reports them to the Chief compliance Officer and other health care team.
Develop policies that describes actions following specific circumstances.
Any other activities assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager and management.
Candidate must be a trained, registered and licensed with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
