    QHSE Coordinator

    The role reports to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager. The role shall oversee the management of Environmental, Health and Safety Systems of the Group in compliance with the Group ESMS as well as relevant Lender and other compliance obligation requirements applicable to the OADC area of responsibility. The role shall provide QHSE support within the boundaries of the region to ensure that OADC and WIOCC adheres to the Quality Assurance, Health, Safety and Environmental aspects as well as IFC Performance Standards of Operational Data Centres as well as during the construction phase. In addition, you will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining ISO’s 9001, 14001 and 45001 within your area of responsibility. The ability to work a flexible and prolonged off-hours schedule for planned and unplanned maintenance and will do standby and call out services if and when required.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Conduct weekly QHSE focused inspections for operations including the mitigation and close out of deviations and incidents as needed.
    • Conduct weekly QHSE focused inspections for construction including the mitigation and close out of deviations and incidents as needed.
    • Combine weekly inspections into a monthly report that covers both operations and construction individually within the same report.
    • Investigate, report and close out all injuries, risks and findings that may arise from activities, inspections or other reporting.
    • Conduct a trend analysis and plan mitigation of trends.
    • Conduct internal QHSE audits aligned with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 requirements.
    • Conduct monthly HSE audits on contractors such as HSE File audits and site audits.
    • Ensure an OADC HSE file is created and maintained at all times.
    • Coordinate, schedule, chair and minute QHSE meeting with construction team on a bi-weekly basis.
    • Manage and co-ordinate QHSE requirements and strategies required to ensure that the QHSE and ESMS of the Group follow applicable standards, code of practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Working in conjunction with employees to keep up to date with legislative requirements and ensures legislative HSE compliance.
    • Organises the required HSE tests as required by permit conditions, EIA’s and legislative requirement.
    • Identifies the environmental impacts and aspects and compile an environmental risk register with legal framework and mitigating factors.
    • Formulates safety risk assessments and prioritizes rate risk individually.
    • Provides a healthy, safe and environmentally conducive working environment using pragmatic and cost-effective initiatives.
    • Provides HSE training to employees and contractors, including induction awareness and ensures that all mandatory HSE training certification is maintained and on record.
    • Facilitate the implementation of QHSE programs / practices through the management and application of processes, policies and procedures.
    • Implement and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, including achieving certification.
    • Assist with the development, implementation of other ISO certifications.

    Your Qualifications & Experience

    • Degree in Health & Safety or equivalent.
    • Auditors’ qualification ISO 45001- Essential.
    • Auditors’ qualification ISO 14001 – Desirable.
    • Auditors’ qualification ISO 9001 – Desirable.
    • NEBOSH International General Certificate – Desirable.
    • ISPON membership 

    Desirable.

    • 5+ years' Integrated QHSE Management and auditing experience.
    • 3+ years’ experience in Data Centre integrated QHSE.
    • 5+ years’ experience in Construction or similar integrated QHSE.
    • 3+ years’ working experience in working & implementing ISO 9001, ISO14001 & ISO 45001.
    • Proven track record in Data Centres and related disciplines in the data centre environment.

    Your knowledge/Skills

    • Knowledge of data centre integrated QHSE Management Systems.
    • Knowledge of the application of international best practices, IFC Social and Environmental Performance standards and International Financial Institutions and / or World Bank Group E&S Policies and standards.
    • Knowledge of HSE Regulatory and Statutory requirements.
    • Knowledge and literacy Office 365 Packages and systems.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrate a successful record of accomplishing goals.
    • Ability to implement and review QHSE management system is essential.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Manage the liaison between departments and other functions.
    • Ensure all set objectives are met as per agreed objective schedule.
    • Ensure all procedures are in place related to your region.
    • Build and manage a good working relationship with your peers and managers.
    • Manage and produce reports as required by line manager.
    • Keep all records up to date and secure in accordance with the data protection act.
    • Contractor and supplier management.
