Project Manager (Construction Engineer) at Sunbeth Global Concepts (SGC)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager (Construction Engineer) to lead the planning, design, and execution of agro-processing plant construction projects, with a primary focus on food-based commodities such as cocoa, cashew, soya, and other processed products. This hands-on role involves managing civil and structural works, overseeing all phases of construction, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful delivery.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in line with the highest standards of quality and safety. Based in Nigeria, this role may also support expansion into other African markets.

Job Details

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and support the full lifecycle of agro-processing construction projects, including design,
• procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, with a focus on crops such as cocoa, cashew, soya, and other processed food products.
• Oversee engineering aspects, including structural, mechanical, and utility systems, ensuring alignment with design intent and safety standards.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, design teams, architects, mechanical/electrical engineers, agronomic consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure an integrated project delivery.
• Conduct site assessments, technical feasibility studies, risk evaluations, and review engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates in coordination with Quantity Surveyors and consultants.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams of engineers, contractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure seamless project execution.
• Ensure all construction activities comply with local building codes, environmental regulations, industry safety standards, and company quality expectations.
• Develop, monitor, and control project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery while anticipating and mitigating risks.
• Manage contracts, procurement processes, and vendor relationships effectively.
• Provide technical oversight during construction, including contractor supervision, quality control, and prompt issue resolution.
• Facilitate clear communication with all stakeholders including local authorities, vendors, internal teams, and senior management, through regular updates and reporting.
• Support strategic expansion plans by identifying scalable project management processes for operations across Nigeria and other African markets.
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and applying them to future projects.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone with:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in construction engineering, preferably in agro-industrial or food processing projects.
• Proven experience in tropical or rural construction environments is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, and other engineering/project management software.
• Familiarity with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000) and sanitary design principles.
• Strong understanding of utilities and infrastructure (e.g., water treatment, power systems, waste management).
