The Program Officer will be responsible for the planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of programs and projects of an organization. He or she will work closely with the Program Manager and project team to ensure the effective delivery of programs and projects. The Program officer is critical to the nonprofit organization as He/She oversees program development, seeks grants and proposals, oversees budgets, and manages projects. S/He will ensure the organization’s activities and programs align with the organization’s goals and mission statement. Working closely with other managers, vendors, and financial supporters, develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to budgets, including reviewing and executing grant proposals.
The Program officer will build and maintain partnerships and relationships that interact with other organizations.
This could include nonprofits, community organizers, or federal agencies assisting with expanding services, raising funding, and educating the public about the organization’s work.
They inform the organization about program developments and ongoing activities through reports, including an annual report or a weekly, monthly, or quarterly update.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program objectives are met
Conduct research and analysis to support program development and decision-making
Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials for stakeholders and partners
Monitor program progress and identify areas for improvement
Review and evaluate program proposals and applications
Develop and implement program policies and procedures
Collaborate with Program Managers to identify potential funding sources and develop grant proposals
Assist with fundraising and donor relations
Qualifications for Program Officer
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Experience in project management, program coordination, or a related field in the NGO Sector.
Strong organizational and planning skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office
Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis, and production of reports.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Professional and pleasant demeanor to meet with stakeholders.
Sharp attention to detail with an extraordinary ability to multitask.
