Procurement Manager at The People Practice

Our client, a top-tier co-educational secondary school in Nigeria, is seeking a Procurement Manager whose primary purpose is to establish and maintain systems for planning the supply chain, procurement, volume forecasting, and shipping, and grow relationships with suppliers and marketing partners. 

Focus: Supply chain material Management / Procurement, volume forecasting, shipping, and management. 

Responsibilities

• Provides direct leadership and strategy for the procurement of goods and services.
• Develop and maintain a robust procurement policy.
• Vendor Management.
• Facilitate prompt sourcing for materials, equipment, and spares at optimal prices. 
• Monitor local prices of materials, equipment, and spares at optimal prices. 
• Establish and monitor stocks of all materials and food items; update ordering plans and schedule monthly. 
• Manage records of all stock and inventory purchased. 
• Manage the end-to-end process of the supply chain.
• Conduct market surveys and analysis of material cost and prices. Locate vendors, equipment, or suppliers to determine/validate product availability and terms of supply. 
• Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for suppliers and equipment.
• Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. 
• Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future match availability as required by the business. 
• Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions and procedures. 
• Drive Change and develop new processes to better procure goods and services. 
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
• Control spend and build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs and be the key person to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company. 
• Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers. 
• Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare a control strategy. 
• Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements, assist recurrent procurement staff, and support in necessary training for them.
• Manage relationships with Local Suppliers, Exporters, Inspection officers, Shipping Clearing agents, as well as other Third Parties. 
• Facilitate prompt establishment of LCs and follow-up Correspondence with Local/ Correspondent Banks as well as relevant statutory Agencies. 
• Liaise with shipping, Clearing and Inspectional Agents for prompt clearing of consignment. 
• Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the CFO or executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CIPS, CSCP, or equivalent.
• Relevant procurement/supply chain experience, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Experience using ERP/Procurement systems.
• Proven experience managing vendor/supplier relationships.
• Negotiation and cost optimization.
• Procurement compliance and risk management.
