Procurement Manager - Raw Commodities (FMCG) at Sonia Foods Industries

Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Procurement Manager with a strong background in FMCG and in-depth expertise in sourcing raw agricultural commodities such as Garri, Ginger, and other staples across Nigeria. 
• The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of local sourcing markets, supplier relationship management, and procurement best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw agricultural commodities to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers, cooperatives, aggregators, and local farmers across Nigeria.
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors to ensure cost-efficiency and value for money.
• Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and supply conditions for key commodities.
• Conduct regular field visits and market assessments to identify sourcing opportunities and mitigate supply risks.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, food safety standards, and ethical sourcing practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, production, and finance, to ensure raw material availability and alignment with business needs.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier performance evaluations.
• Lead procurement planning, budgeting, and forecasting for assigned commodities.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in procurement, business administration, agriculture, or a related field. A relevant master’s degree or professional certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement within the FMCG sector, with a strong emphasis on sourcing agricultural raw materials.
• Proven experience in field sourcing and managing procurement operations across Nigeria’s regional markets.
• Strong knowledge of commodity pricing, local supplier ecosystems, and agri-supply chain dynamics.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Nigeria for sourcing and supplier engagement.
