Job Summary
- The Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, accuracy, and completeness of all process engineering deliverables across project phases. The role focuses on proactive design validation, cross-discipline coordination, and ensuring that all process outputs meet project, client, and regulatory requirements before issuance.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Ownership & Quality Assurance
- Own and ensure the technical accuracy and completeness of all process engineering deliverables prior to issue.
- Identify and resolve design errors, inconsistencies, and omissions at the engineering stage to prevent downstream rework.
- Perform detailed Inter-Discipline Checks (IDCs) to eliminate conflicts between process, piping, mechanical, and instrumentation designs.
Process Design & Engineering
- Develop process engineering deliverables across all project phases: feasibility, conceptual design, FEED, and Detailed Engineering Design (DED).
- Prepare and maintain accurate Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), ensuring consistency across documents and revisions.
- Develop process simulations to validate design intent and support engineering decisions.
- Perform core process calculations
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain complete and traceable documentation of all engineering deliverables, including:
- Ensure all documentation is properly stored and managed in line with company document control standards (e.g., SharePoint).
Equipment & Specification Development
- Prepare datasheets and technical specifications for process equipment, valves, and instrumentation.
- Support procurement activities by ensuring clarity and completeness of engineering inputs.
Commercial & Project Support
- Provide process engineering input to tenders and proposals, including:
- Support project execution teams with technical guidance and design clarifications.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in either Chemical/ Mechanical / Petroleum or a related engineering discipline
- 5–8 years’ experience in process engineering within oil & gas, energy, or EPC environments.
Strong experience with:
- Process simulations (e.g., Aspen HYSYS or similar)
- P&ID development and review
- Engineering calculations and equipment sizing
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes (API, ASME, etc.).
Competency and Skill Requirement
Process Engineering & Technical Expertise
- Strong capability in process design across feasibility, conceptual, FEED, and DED phases
- Proficiency in process simulation tools (e.g., HYSYS, PROMAX, FLARENET or equivalent)
- Ability to develop, review, and validate P&IDs, process datasheets, and technical specifications
- Solid experience in core process calculations, including:
- Equipment sizing
- Valve sizing
- Hydraulic and line sizing
- Blowdown and relief calculations
- Sound knowledge and application of industry standards (API, ASME, ANSI, AGA, IEC, PIP)
Analytical Thinking & Engineering Judgment
- Strong analytical capability to interpret simulation results and engineering data
- Ability to identify design inconsistencies, risks, and optimization opportunities
- Applies sound engineering judgment to resolve complex technical challenges
Quality Assurance & Attention to Detail
- High level of accuracy in engineering deliverables
- Ability to detect and resolve errors through inter-discipline checks (IDCs)
- Ensures consistency and completeness across all process documentation
Project Execution & Delivery Discipline
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables within tight project timelines
- Strong planning, prioritization, and time management skills
- Delivers high-quality outputs in line with project schedules and milestones
Documentation & Digital Proficiency
- Strong documentation discipline with full traceability of engineering deliverables
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience using SharePoint for document control and compliance
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and PDMS/E3D for drawing review and inter-discipline coordination (Desirable)

- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively
- Strong collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams (piping, mechanical, instrumentation)
- Produces clear and structured technical reports and documentation

- Understanding of project cost, schedule, and resource considerations
- Ability to contribute to tender preparation and Cost-Time-Resource (CTR) estimation (Desirable)
- Supports development of technical inputs for proposals and bid documentation

- Contributes to team capability development and knowledge sharing

- Active participation in HAZOP and SIL studies
- Strong awareness of process safety and risk management

Delivery & Schedule Performance
- On-Time Deliverables: ≥ 90% of process deliverables issued in line with project milestone plans
Quality & Technical Accuracy
- First-Issue Quality: ≥ 85% of deliverables pass IDC without major comments
- Simulation Validation: All simulation models validated and signed off by Lead Engineer prior to IFC
Documentation & Compliance
- Document Control Compliance: 100% of deliverables, revisions, and review records uploaded to SharePoint within 24 hours
Safety & Risk Management
- HAZOP/SIL Participation: 100% attendance and active contribution to assigned safety reviews
- QHSE Performance: Zero incidents attributable to process engineering deliverables
Team & Capability Development
- Mentorship Effectiveness: Measurable progress of direct reports against Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
Client & Stakeholder Satisfaction
- Client Feedback Score: Positive rating based on project close-out reviews
