    Port Engineer

    Key Responsibilities
    Vessel & Equipment Maintenance:

    • Oversee and coordinate maintenance, repair, and inspection of vessels, engines, and port equipment.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules in line with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements.
    • Supervise dry-docking operations, vessel surveys, and major overhauls.

    Technical Operations:

    • Ensure all vessels and port assets are maintained in a seaworthy and operational state at all times.
    • Conduct technical assessments and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
    • Maintain accurate records of repairs, fuel consumption, engine hours, and maintenance activities.

    Compliance & Safety:

    • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements including class, flag state, and ISM/ISPS codes.
    • Enforce safety standards and procedures during maintenance and operational activities.
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies, port authorities, and classification societies as required.

    Budgeting & Procurement:

    • Prepare and manage budgets for vessel maintenance, repairs, and spare parts.
    • Coordinate procurement of technical supplies and monitor inventory levels.
    • Evaluate vendors, contractors, and shipyards to ensure cost-effective and quality service delivery.

    Team Coordination & Reporting:

    • Supervise technical crew and shore-based maintenance personnel.
    • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
    • Prepare and submit maintenance and performance reports to management.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 5 –7 years experience in marine engineering or ship maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or port engineer role.
    • Seagoing experience as a Chief or Second Engineer (Certificate of Competency) is an added advantage.
