    Description of Role

    One Precious Life (OPL) Academy is an employment accelerator connecting job seekers to job opportunities in Nigeria’s construction industry.

    Our client is an indigenous construction firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. They are looking to hire a Plumber with proven experience in installing, maintaining, and repairs of pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems.

     Job Description for the Plumber Role

    The Plumber will be responsible for the following:

    • Installing pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids.

    • Maintaining and repairing damaged broken pipes, and clogged drains.

    • Installing underground sanitary, drainage, and water supply piping systems.

    • Repairing and maintaining water treatment plant and plumbing facilities at various locations and ensuring compliance with building codes and set safety standards.

    • Interpreting blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials.

    • Inspecting plumbing systems to identify issues and initiate repairs.

    • Troubleshoot faults related to the treatment plant, plumbing, and piping to discover the root causes of errors.

    • Liaising with site engineers, pipefitters, and other construction workers to ensure an effective plumbing system.

    • Digging trenches/installing pipes and piping fixtures for water or sewage systems.

    • Filling pipes with resin or sand to prevent distortion and ensure they are steady during installation.

    • Installing supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures before installation

    • Collaborating with contractors, construction workers, electricians, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing defects.

    • Responsible for choosing plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of the building.

    • Preparing daily reports of repair jobs, damages, etc. for the analysis of the supervisor.

    • Responsible for the inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.

    SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Versed in identifying plumbing problems and providing solutions to resolve such issues.

    • Good knowledge of Residential plumbing and pipe-fitting work.

    • Proactive and reliable, able to thrive working in a busy environment.

    • Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks

    • Strong attention to detail

    • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity

    • Well-developed organisational skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Strong sense of responsibility

    • The ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision is an added advantage

     MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

    • A minimum of either SSCE, NABTEB, City & Guilds certificate.

    • 1-3 years apprenticeship program under an experienced plumber.

    • 3 years experience as a general plumber

    Remuneration

    N60, 000 to N70,000 per month
