Pipe / Structural Fitting II at Scruples Resources

MAIN FUNCTIONS

• Perform pipe fitting and structural fitting activities according to approved drawings and specifications.
• Install, align, assemble, and dismantle piping and structural components.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, fabrication drawings, and structural drawings.
• Measure, mark, cut, bevel, fit, and align pipes and structural members.
• Install pipe supports, flanges, valves, fittings, brackets, platforms, and related components.
• Support fabrication and erection of piping and structural systems.
• Verify dimensions, elevations, alignment, and clearances before welding or final installation.
• Work closely with welders, fabricators, mechanical technicians, and QA/QC personnel.
• Assist with pressure testing, flushing, reinstatement, and mechanical completion activities.
• Ensure work complies with project specifications, procedures, and HSE requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare pipes, fittings, structural members, tools, and materials for installation.
• Carry out flange alignment, bolt-up, gasket installation, and piping assembly.
• Fit elbows, tees, reducers, valves, blinds, supports, and other piping components.
• Assist with structural steel installation, including beams, columns, supports, platforms, ladders, and handrails.
• Check pipe routing and structural positioning against approved drawings.
• Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, levels, and alignment equipment correctly.
• Support field modifications and maintenance work on existing piping and structures.
• Identify dimensional discrepancies, fit-up problems, and installation defects and report them to the supervisor.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and care of tools and equipment.
• Follow Permit to Work (PTW), JSA/JHA, LOTO, lifting, hot-work, and work-at-height requirements.
• Assist QA/QC personnel with fit-up inspections and correction of identified deficiencies.
• Support shutdown, turnaround, construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• OND, technical certificate, trade certificate, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Pipe Fitting, Structural Fitting, Fabrication, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, fabrication, construction, or industrial maintenance.
• Practical experience in pipe fitting, structural erection, fabrication, and mechanical installation.
• Ability to interpret piping isometrics, P&IDs, structural drawings, and fabrication drawings.
• Knowledge of piping components, valves, flanges, fittings, supports, and structural steel members.
• Familiarity with dimensional measurement, alignment, fit-up, and installation practices.
• Good understanding of HSE requirements for mechanical and construction activities.
• Ability to work effectively with welders, fabricators, technicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working in onshore, offshore, fabrication yard, shutdown, turnaround, and construction environments.
