• We are seeking a skilled and experienced Physiochemist to join our research and development team.
• As a Physiochemist, you will be responsible for applying your expertise in the fields of physics and chemistry to understand and analyze the physicochemical properties and behavior of substances, particularly as they relate to biological systems.
• Your work will contribute to the development of new therapeutic interventions, drug discovery, and innovative treatment modalities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis of physicochemical properties of various substances, compounds, and materials relevant to biological systems.
• Design and perform experiments using advanced scientific methodologies and techniques to investigate and characterize the behavior and interactions of substances at the molecular and cellular level.
• Utilize a wide range of analytical instruments and equipment to measure and interpret data, including spectroscopy, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and other relevant tools.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including biologists, pharmacologists, and chemists, to develop novel approaches and solutions for drug discovery, drug delivery systems, and therapeutic interventions.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, draw meaningful conclusions, and present findings to internal stakeholders and external scientific communities through reports, publications, and presentations.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in physiochemistry, molecular biology, and related fields to apply cutting-edge techniques and methodologies in research activities.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and ethical guidelines during all laboratory procedures.
• Participate in grant writing, project proposals, and funding applications to secure resources for research initiatives.
• Mentor and supervise junior scientists, research assistants, or interns, providing guidance and support in their scientific endeavors.

Qualifications

• BSc. in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field with a strong focus on physiochemistry.
• Proven experience conducting research in physiochemistry, demonstrated through published papers or contributions to scientific conferences, with at least two (2) years of experience.
• Proficiency in experimental design, data analysis, and statistical interpretation.
• Extensive knowledge of the principles of physics, chemistry, and molecular biology, particularly as they pertain to biological systems.
• Experience with a wide range of analytical techniques and instruments, such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and mass spectrometry.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and critically.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with researchers from diverse scientific backgrounds.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Based in Kano or willing to relocate to Kano on your own accord.
