Payable Accountant at Blue Phoenix Deepwater Limited

Blue Phoenix Deepwater Limited, a leading indigenous provider of subsea diving, underwater inspection, repair and maintenance services for offshore and nearshore floating assets in oil, gas and marine industry, is hiring an experienced accounts payable accountant to process project supplier and subcontractor obligations accurately, efficiently and in accordance with approved procurement, contract and payment controls.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Receive, review and process supplier, subcontractor and service-provider invoices relating to the project.
• Verify invoices against purchase orders, contracts, service entries, delivery documentation, approved rates and other supporting evidence.
• Maintain accurate vendor accounts and regularly reconcile supplier statements.
• Ensure advances, deposits, retentions and other vendor balances are properly recorded and monitored.
• Prepare payment schedules based on approved invoices, contractual due dates, cash availability and authorized payment priorities.
• Provide information on upcoming supplier obligations to support project cash-flow forecasting.
• Perform regular reconciliation of key vendor accounts and ensure reconciling items are resolved promptly.
• Maintain complete records of payment approvals and supporting documentation.
• Comply with procurement, finance and project payment procedures.
• Work collaboratively with other project functions to support safe, efficient and commercially successful project delivery.

Required skills, education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification is a must have.
• 3–6 years’ relevant accounts payable or project accounting experience, preferably in oil and gas, offshore, marine or project environments.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems capability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Integrity, confidentiality, professional discipline and sound judgement.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
